Me again. How long should I make my breakfast bar as compared to my peninsula? My peninsula is 77". The ones I've seen in pictures are a little shorter than the counter they are over. Is there a general size? What do you think I should do. I have no taste and limited decision-making abilities!
Are you talking depth or width? Depth can be as little as 9 inches or as much as 15. Width is generally 24 inches per person seated, not less than 20 unless they are all really small people!
Remind me....is this one of the floating ones? The angled "legs" so to speak? Like these ones?

Or are we talking something different?

I've settled on 15" deep. Width, I'm just looking for what would look like it was on purpose. I was thinking of making it 6-12" shorter on each end of the peninsula. I just have to make a decision before I start playing with my capita legs.
Figure out how many people you want to seat, then multiply that by 2. That's the number of feet of counter you will want. Centered on your peninsula will look very nice. Err on the side of more width rather than less if you have the option, so elbows have lots of room.
Sounds like with 77" you could squeeze in 3 (24" x 3 people = 72"), with 5" leftover. Space it evenly on both ends, and I think it'll look great! Birch up top, right? Don't have too much fun playing with your Capita legs!
