Has anyone used a "point of use" hot water heater for a kitchen sink? I'm looking for something that will provide warm water to wash hands - without running the faucet for 5 minutes - not HOT water for tea. Any suggestions?

The closest I've used was in a shower of a house we rented on vacation- we were not impressed with it. The stream of warmish water was just about sufficient to wash your hands, and this was in Puerto Rico, so it wasn't like it was cold outside at all. Have you considered a recirculating system to keep the water in the lines hot so you don't have to wait for hot tap water?

I should also add that everything in the house dimmed when we used it. It was a shack in the rainforest so I'm sure it was not the best out there. I loved that house.

There are small tankless water heaters designed for this application, but the question is do you have the electrical capacity to do this? Even 120V units have high current draws, and will require higher capacity circuits and wiring.

Hot water recirculation is the better way to go here.
