Electrician wanted to know today (woo hoo... old kitchen demo was finished)...

and I think we need to know for the plumbing... is there a back to the sink cabinet and if there is - does the outlet for the disposer/dishwasher get installed "in/on" it? the IKEA backs don't seem strong enough for that...

Except for the Domsjo doulbe sink cabinet, all sink cabinets have a back - an outlet should be mounted on the side of the cabinet. Tha back of the cabinets are 1/8" masonite - their primary purpose is to keep the cabinet square.

If theplumbing is coming out of the wall - use a holesaw to cut holes for the water and waste pipes - or cut a section out of the back to allow all the pipes through. Once the back is on the cabinet it can be cut to accomodate pipes, etc..

Cut a hole in it? Or in our case, several.

Seriously, line up your cabinet with your rough plumbing, and cut a hole. If you're like us, your hole will be MUCH larger than necessary. I've heard tell of some people having holes the exact size of the pipes, but I personally don't see how that's possible. :?

domsjo sink and portion of back?

Has anyone put a portion of the back or otherwise shored up the domjso sink basin in such a way they are confident it can stand by itself? We're using it butted up against a varde dishwasher cabinet on one side and some tall cabinets on the other- without some sort of backing it just seems flimsy. I have no problems cutting the backing to some intermediate height- just wondering if others have strengthened their cabinet to stand-alone levels and if so how you did it.

I have not installed one myself but it is my understanding that the double domsjo sink requires countertop on both sides and can not stand alone.
