Colored caulk on cabinets?

I have seen the suggestion that we run a bead of caulk along the edges of some cabinet bits (like the decor strip where it meets the cabinets) to get a more finished look. Has anyone tried colored caulk, to try and match your deco strip/cabinet color?

Something like this:
SeamFil in Caulking & Adhesives > Cabinetparts.com

I was specifically thinking in my case of the aforementioned decostrip along the bottom, as well as potentially along the top edge where the deco strip might be used as crown moulding. Though of course there I have the option of using a white or off white to more closely match the ceiling rather than the cabinet. But it's what got me wondering...

Re: Colored caulk on cabinets?

i've never seen this seamfil. i have lucked out with standard colored caulk: tan for the birch cab (of course plastic wood is the best possible match, but that is more for small bits, not caulking worthy spots), tan for kalsebo and even brown for adel mb and also lilje
i have found that "close enough" is fine for the caulking in these applications as you're just tricking the eye away from the place you're caulking. in the deco strip example it's the light passing through the gap that catches the eye. in the crown molding to ceiling it's a bit of a shadow which is created if it's not seamless.

i'd be interested in hearing more about Seamfil

Re: Colored caulk on cabinets?

Just saw this on HGTV
Find Create A Color Caulk, 10.1 oz and other Caulking at Aubuchon Hardware
there is a 30$ mixing kit that is required, but man, 10oz of latex paint guarantees a match??? holy cow. this is cool
