I couldn't figure out where this question should go so I stuck it here for now. We considered the domsjo double sink and decided against it...couple of reasons, one being we didn't want a white sink in our Adel MB kitchen with SS appliances.
There are some gorgeous copper ones out there but about $1000 and that's ebay prices. There are some really nice apron SS sinks with a curved front that my wife is excited about.
I attached embedded photos in a word document of the sink and dimensions. Not sure if it has attached to this post though.
It has no lip so it doesn't use the counter at all for support, it is an undermount and without a lip I don't see how it screws into the bottom of a countertop. So, does anyone know how these things attached as an undermount or flushmount...probably flushmount would be most desirable?
Would the domsjo double sink IKEA base work well with this unit or do I need a normal 36 inch sink base...is there a difference other than the false drawer fronts missing because of the apron?
I've never seen one of these in person before and live in a small town so options to see it mounted are slim. A search of the internet wasn't very fruitful, mainly about undermount sinks that have flanges and hardware that allow you to screw up into the bottom of the countertop or something to that effect. I guess I would need to customize the base cabinet to provide support by wood braces?
I've heard of sinks like this actually being attached with only silicone or epoxy....scares the daylights out of me, but there ya go. I'll move your thread over to the Kitchen Elements forum for more input. Have you visited the manufacturer's website for install instructions?
I don't actually know who the manufacturer is...I've found these sinks on ebay and some discount websites e.g. overstock.com and can't find the manufacturer although one sites says Vigo...not sure if that is the manufacturer name or not...can't find their website anyways.
I'll email ebay and overstock to see if they can get me that information. However, still if anyone has installed something like this I would be greatful for any answers to my originally posted questions.
I can see an undermount with an adhesive, although scares me too, but many of these can be mounted flush mount so i have not idea how they do that...adhesive on the side against the edge of the cabinet? Yikes!
This site has a really smart installation method. If you can't get specifics from the mfr (which is really, really important, because they all recommend different methods) then this method looks to be a very sensible and relatively secure way to do it.
