How close should a dishwasher be to an apron sink (plus other questions)?

I have a limited work area and was wondering if you all thought this would work.

I think I want to set it up this way from left to right in my small 7ft 4in wide nook with walls on either side:

1in border == 24in dishwasher == 1in border == 36in apron sink == 1in border == corner for cabinet (24in+ counter overhang)

Essentially there is going to be about 5 ft of counter before it turn into the 90 degree counter and follows about 14ft down the kitchen. It makes one big L shaped counter and the sink/dishwasher make up the little end. (sorry, I don't have any pictures of it right now)

This is the best placement for it because of all the windows in my kitchen and the fact that I already have the electrical installed that way

I hope that makes sense. The apron sink and the dishwasher front are both going to be stainless steel. Would it look really silly to have them so close to each other? I wasn't sure if it would work to get a smaller width sink, like a 32 or something. I like the 36in wide one a little better. I don't think it would look too bad.

In a related note, it seems from what I've read that people have been happy with buying range hoods from zline. Any one heard of any problems with their hoods or sinks?

It seems to work on paper with a little room to spare. I figure I would need a 0.5in to 1in side on the other side of the dishwasher since it butts against a wall and I don't want the door rubbing against the wall.

Darn small kitchens!!!

Thanks for the help.

Hi! You know, my DW door is slightly more narrow than the body of the dishwasher itself, so I'm guessing that is standard on most. If that's the case, you shouldn't have to worry about it scraping the wall if you butt it up against the wall. See if that wall is generally plumb and if it is, you'll be fine.

I think it's hard to answer about the clearance needed on the apron front sink without seeing it- you could check your installation directions to see if any of the drawings indicate the widest point is greater than 36." If not, that's one less problem right there.

If you run into issues, you can cut out your drywall (assuming you have drywall) on one or both ends and get an inch or two. I only say that to reassure you that you have options.

HTH,

Kelly

Those are good points. thanks. I guess I was also wondering about the aesthetics of it all as well.

My walls, unfortunately, are not plumb. Close enough for what I'm needing it for, but I am in the process of leveling some of it out next to where the counter will go on a few of the walls right now.

thanks!
