"normal" sink in a corner space?

Hi All,

I've been an informal IKEA fan for many years, but this is the first time I've ventured to post a question. After years of dreaming of home ownership, my boyfriend and I finally squeezed into the real estate market and bought a townhouse. The kitchen is pretty much original, circa 1969. We're itching to redo it and are pretty much sold on IKEA cabinetry.

The problem? It's a small space and to make use of it well, we want to try a corner sink. I know about the Emsen, but I'd love to get a "normal" sink in there, preferably one with a double bowl. Any tips on how to modify something in the Akurum series to handle a sink like the Boholmen (1 1/2 bowl) or Boholmen (2 bowl) sinks?

Thank you,
Ilana

Re: "normal" sink in a corner space?

Welcome!

East Palo Alto used to have a kitchen display with a corner sink. They used one of the corner base cabinets and mounted the sink on it. (I don't remember the model of the sink, but it wasn't a tiny one...)

There's a thread I saw that has diagrams for building a diagonal front corner base cab. If you do something like this, you'll probably be able to install a fairly large sink.
