For space reasons I would like to go with 24"sink cab. Â* Â*I would like to go for an undermount single bowl sink.Â* What's the largest size sink I can fit?Â* I am open to the material.Â* Does any one have any recomendations?Â*Â*
The inside dimension of the 24" cabinet is 22.5" width and 19" front to back (without cutting the rails - they can be cut to accomodate a larger sink) - so any sink slightly smaller than that should work. I would check with the countertop installer about minimun clearance around the lip of the sink.

Wendy,
We went with a 30" cabinet and a single undermount stainless sink. The exterior dimensions of the sink basin are just slightly under the interior dimensions of the cabinet. As such we can slide the sink into the cabinet without cutting down the side walls dramatically. We are shaving about a 1/8 - 1/4" off the top structure of the cabinet frame so the surrounding sink structure sits flush and won't create a problem with our granite install.
So as Torrus mentioned, as long as it's less than 22.5" wide and 19" deep front to back, you won't have to make any major modifications to the frame.
G.
P.S. In a way, we think choosing a sink that *just* fits your cabinet is a big plus. With the exterior framing of the sink sitting on our cabinet frame, we don't have to rely only on the embedded rods or other means that our granite installers use to support the sink.
Thanks for the info.Â* I really wanted to go with a 30" cab but just can't fit it in my plan.Â* Â*This sink:http://www.faucetline.com/item_descr...mp;prodid=9867 is the only one I found so far.Â* I think it will fit well.Â* What do you guys think?

Wendy -
In the same vein there are some on eBay if you search for "undermount stainless sink". Here is one possibility from the same company as we bought ours "Galaxy Tool Supply" - eBay Item #220001086289 (I'm on Firefox so linking directly is tricky.)
Our experience with Galaxy was very good. The sink we purchased from them was priced well, great quality, and came with some very nice, heavy-duty accessories like a sink grid (which I had on my wish list).
Thanks Gwen.Â* They have the exact same item for much less.Â*Â* I never had a stainless sink.Â* How do you like yours?Â* Is it hard to keep clean?Â* How about scratches and noise?Wendy
Hello Wendy,
Like you, due to space limitations, I had to get a 24" sink cab. I got a 16"w x 18"d undermount stainless steel sink to fit inside the 24" sink cab. The sink is top quality 18/10 gauge stainless steel made by a company from Argentina, Johnson Acero (http://www.johnson-acero.com.ar/index.html they have an English version of their website). Kitchens in Argentina tend to be smaller than U.S. kitchens, therefore, this company has many sink models 22" or less and might be able to ship to the U.S. or maybe they have a U.S. distributor. At $95 for my sink, the price is hard to beat and worth the search!
Alternately, you can get a sink that is wider than the 22.5" limit of the 24" sink cab. Your installer will need to "shave" the cab sides to acommodate a sink wider than the 22.5" limit. I found about this a little bit late from my countertop installer the day he came to install the Silestone countertops with the 18x16 undermount sink hole already cut on the stone (too late for a change!).
While I would have liked a bigger sink, having a small sink has its advantages. I gained 8" of much needed counterspace. Also the sink fills up quickly with dirty dishes so I find myself doing the dishes frequently with the end result of the kitchen always looking neat!
You can see pics of my kitchen on this post: http://www.ikeafans.com/forums/view_...mp;forum_id=10
Good luck!

Wendy,
We just had our stainless single bowl sink installed over the 4th of July weekend and I couldn't be happier. When it arrived, I was surprised that the only sound dampening on the unit was in the form of rubber pads (about 6x11") on all the exterior sides. The dampening material seems to do the trick . . . the sound is pleasant with no tinging tones or loud reverberations. I'm especially surprised by this since we went with a larger sized pull-down faucet. I expected that the increased distance that the water was falling might increase the sound problem but it's not an issue at all.
Regarding scratches - I did a ton of research into sink materials before choosing the stainless. A stainless sink will scratch but for me this is part of the "patina". I like the look and have lived with cast iron sinks in the past. With a cast iron I didn't like the temporary gray scratches that resulted on the finish when I washed my metal pots and pans. Spent way too many hours scrubbing those gray scratches out. Figured the patina was a better fit for us!
I'll try to get a shot of our sink in the pics I take so you can get an idea. I am so pleased with the single bowl. It's the first time I've had one and I don't think I'll be able to go back to double again. I can actually fit entire cookie sheet pans in the sink flat to soak!
Wendy, are you by any chance still around? What happened with your sink?
If anyone knows of an undermount stainless sink that is less than 22.5 wide and 19 front to back that is not super expensive, I would be ever so grateful.
