Just wondering if anyone has suggestions for good safe cleaners for the Domsjo sinks. We have started to realize that pots and pans or anything metal in general leave nice little metallic marks on the white porcelain. :X
They seem to come off after some serious scrubbing. Yet I don't want to damage the finish.
Any known cleaners thatremove these type of marks easily? Maybe some sort of soft scrub cleaner...?
Try Barkeeper's Friend. It comes in both a liquid and a powder. The powder is in a can like Comet, but the formula actually contains oxalic acid in very low concentrations. People swear by it for stainless, copper, enamel on cast iron, and all sorts of other surfaces. I just used it on my cast iron and stainless sinks and they shine like new. Great stuff. I think I saw it at Wal-Mart recently, or you can pay three times as much at places like Linen's and Things or Bed, Bath and Beyond.

Greetings, This is a bit of topic in a way-I purchased a Domsjo sink from Ikea and it had no installation instructions with it. Is therere any way you could copy yours and mail them to me? I would be happy to pay for your time and postage?
Hey Whitedog! Welcome to the Forums. Did you buy the Domsjo and the Domsjo sink base, or just the sink? The sink base comes with some of the instructions. You'll find pictures and more information on the FAQ page. Good luck with your installation!

Thanks for the reply, I purchased the sink by itself, in superb used condition-no box, no manual, no hardware(I now know it should have come with 2 support bars).
I'm not worried-with a bit of info I can make the support bars-That is the info that I need as well as the info from the manual.
Now I guess it would be helpful if I had the info from the sink base. I am goingto modify an existing sink base that we have in our home-so while not the same the info would certainly be helpful, in doing my modification. Any chance you would have the cabinet info, and sink manualthat you could send me a copy of, and the length and width of the metal sink support bars?
Thanks so much for the reply and any help you could be,
Sorry, I don't have the sink myself, but there are a few people here who do, so you might be able to get copied instructions. I might also suggest that you call or visit your local IKEA and ask about getting any parts you need in the spare parts department, usually right with returns. Everything IKEA is metric, so if they have what you need, it might save you from tearing your hair out at the Evil Orange trying to find the right size. Just a thought.
Hopefully someone who has one of these sinks will come forward with some information--I'd love to have it too so that I can post it here for any future sink owners in your situation. Good Luck!

Thanks so much-I am thinking that if the bars that I do not have are just for horizontal bracing and not used to support the sink, it may not be too difficult. I would then purchase some aluminum flat stock, bend it in a vise and drill some holes in each of the ears created by the bend and then fasten it in place both front and rear?-Thanks so much for your time,
Does everyone get marks in their DOMSJO sink? I like the look of it (though I wish it was undermount, but for the price, I can't complain), but I really don't want to be cleaning up dings every day.
I also wish it was deeper.

I had a chance to look at the DOMSJO sinkinstalled during a trip to our local IKEA this weekend. I looked specifically at the support of the sink and the metal cross braces that you didn't get with your sink.
Good News!
You're absolutely correct. The metal bars are strictly a cross brace for the walls of the cabinet, at no point do they touch the sink at all, the entire weight of the sink is supported by the cabinet walls. Given what I saw I would say that you should be fine to manufacture your own cross braces out of metal stock as long as they will not allow the cabinet walls to spread apart or lean in. I would suggest that you might want to design in a way to adjust the length of the cross braces, but I'm sure you can work something out. Let us know how it goes and post pictures of the results if you can? That way others can benefit in the future... Good luck!
