We're planning an IKEA kitchen reno, and really want an apron front sink. The IKEA Domsjo is too big for our counter space, so we were looking at a smaller, similar sink:
The big question: Will this sink, which measures 19 3/4" x 15 3/4" x 7 7/8" deep, fit into the 24" sink base cabinet, and can it be properly installed as an undermount? I'm thiking it would just require removing the false drawers and getting some sort of steel bars to support it, but was wondering if anyone here has any thoughts/experience.
Sorry I can't offer experience, but we're planning to do the same thing with an Elkay stainless steel undermount apron-front sink. The exterior measurements of the sink come to nearly 25 inches, and it evidently commonly installs into a 24" sink cabinet. We assumed we'd have to tweak the Ikea 24" sink cab to some degree, but also assumed it wouldn't really be a problem. I'd like to add a request for voices of experience from those who've installed the Domsjo or other apron-fronts.
I don't see any problem with a sink measuring 19 3/4" x 15 3/4" fitting into a 24" cabinet, which is 22 1/2" by well...24", minus the rails...I think it's about 19" front to back in the end. Undermounting is no big deal. We undermounted, and just installed some extra support on the sides of the sink by way of 2x4. Welcome to the forums, Jenn!
llama (can I call you llama?) -- yours is a bit more questionable. How does a 25" sink commonly install into a 24" cabinet? It's not impossible, mind you...surely we can figure out something. A little support, a little filler -- no problem. But I'm still curious how Elkay suggests doing this. LOVE the stainless apron front sinks, btw. Classic juxtaposition. Love it.

I've wondered how the extra inch would work, too, and assumed it might involve some filler on each end of the cabinet. The bottom line is that we just LOVE this sink and are determined to make it fit. I've attached a pic of the sink, along with the specs. In the photo it's definitely not mounted onto a 30" cabinet, so I assume it's either a modified 24" one or a custom 25" one. I assume Elkay expects clients to use standard sized (24",30", or 36") sink cabs, as the sink is also available in 30" and 36" sizes.
Wow. That's a beauty of a sink. Mind if I ask what the pricetag is like? I assume you've shopped it around (we IKEAns are a thrifty bunch, on the whole)....
I'll have to think about the technical aspects of installation when my head isn't fuzzy from cough preparations. Ahem. Cough, cough.

I love love love that sink. I have been thinking about having it in my kitchen. I will love to hear how/if you get the sink to fit because 24 inches is an option for us.
Sorry can't be more help than that.
