A few years ago, my wife and I were walking through Ikea and she spotted a set of white dishes with a large star printed in the center. They were relatively normal looking dishes with the exception of the star. She made mention how much she liked them and I marked down a mental note to pick some up for Christmas.
Christmas came around and I went to pick up a set only to find they'd been discontinued. We still walk around looking for those plates when we're in the store (like ghosts haunting a department store). I've called the store and nobody can source them or even get a name. I checked Replacements.com for Ikea pattern names, ebay, craigslist, etc. Does anyone have the name of this set? I think my searches will be a lot more productive if I can search by name. Bonus points if you can tell me where to buy a set.
I've been racking my brains since you posted. I remembered the dishes, because I nearly bought them myself, but I couldn't for the life of me remember the name. And then, this afternoon when I revisited your post, there it was!
Here's what I know: The dishes were called ENSTA, it was a 33-pc set, and their article # was 501.129.29. I've uploaded a

to help aid in your search (it's not great -- sorry.)
The unfortunate news is that these dishes were manufactured as "Free Range" for IKEA... usually a limited contract with a supplier for a single or set of products that are ordered in quantity once and never are seen again. This may make your search more than challenging.
Macks13, are you sure they are ENSTA? I ask because I really liked them in your photo, but on ebay a search for ENSTA brings up some green celadon-y dishes. They're in what is obviously their original box and it does say ENSTA on it. Does Ikea often use the same product name for such different items?
Wow, I thought I'd stumped you guys. I agree, the ENSTA dishes listed on ebay aren't the same thing, but I think your picture is what I was looking for. I called my local Ikea about it. They were nice, as usual, but couldn't confirm for sure that they were called ENSTA. The rep said she thinks she remembers that name being for a set of dishes, likely with a print on it.
Yes, IKEA uses a cycle of names for their free range... you may recall ALLEBY, BRATTBY, DRAGBY, ENSTA, FANBY... the list goes on. They can be anything from spice canisters to entertainment centers!
I work for IKEA, so I searched our electronic product database. It's pretty complete from 2000 to now, though sometimes they only have line drawings of products and that's a bit frustrating.
