I'm still in the process of planning my kitchen and was wondering what is the maximumsizeundermount sinkthat will fit into the 30" an 24" sink cabinets? Any one have an good resources for resonably priced single or double bowl undermounts?

We got our (36") sink at http://www.galaxytoolsupply.com. I think they only sell undermounts but we love that thing and it was a fantastic price.

Basically, a 30" cabinet has an interior dimension of 28-1/2 (thanks Susan!) So technically any sink that has a bowl size less would fit. The fittings underneath is where you might run into problems.

The cabinet sides are 3/4" so the inside measurement is 28 1/2" on a 30" sink and likewise, 22 1/2" on a 24" sink. Bear in mind that some of the granite/solid surface installers are accustomed to installing the sink under the granite after it's been installed, requiring that the entire sink, including the flanges be less than the interior width of the cabinet.

However, it is also possible to buy a sink where the flanges are up to 30" (using a 30" cabinet as an example) as long as the bowls are no wider than the 28 1/2". In this case, you'd set the sink down into the cabinet from the top, resting the flanges on the side of the sink cabinet -- then the counter would be installed on top.

What type of sink are you considering -- stainless, cast iron, swanstone, other?
