Post Show Me Your Drawers!

I've got some drawers that just aren't performing up to speed for me...like my cutlery drawers, so I am hoping to see how people are making the most of these spaces. I have 15", 18" and 30" drawers and it just seems like I'm not getting my money's worth out of them.

They are, without a doubt, better than my old drawers, but I want them to be all they can be.

Do you have the drawer divider kits? They have them for all size drawers, and they really maximize the space inside. Drawer insert boxes lose a lot of space because of the curved bottom edge of the drawer, so the rail system divider kit that IKEA has works great.

I accidently got the metal divider system for 24" drawers...so I'll have to return them. Of course, I didn't realize this until I had busted it out of its package and then cursed IKEA for a few minutes.

Of course by now I should know, it's not IKEA, it's me. Story of all my great love affairs

Lisa - I was pleased to find out that Rev-a-Shelf's #2 Cutlery Tray Insert is a perfect fit for the 15" shallow drawer. (You trim it to size so there areno gaps.) I think the next size up would work for the 18". I got mine at Home Depot. I've got the Rationell dividers for my big 30" drawers, but haven't installed them yet - I hear they're great.

Okay, so I like the looks of the beech boxes, but I don't like the fact that (as eva pointed out) due to the curve of the drawer bottom, they don't sit properly in the drawer. And, it was quite a cram to get my (IKEA!) silverware in them.

I also apparently picked up the drawer dividers for the *deep* 15" drawers - not the shallow. Make sure your box doesn't have the round hook top if you are planning on using the dividers in a shallow (top) drawer. My deep drawers are already well organized, so I'll have to return these. *sigh*

I got the divider for the 12" - again, this isn't really working for me, but that's probably because I use my 12" drawer as a junk drawer. I'll hold on to this, and see if something strikes me for the (currently empty) remaining drawer.

I do, oddly enough, really like the spice block insert! It works perfectly to organize my few dried spices, my pot stands and my cheese grater and garlic press beside the cooktop.

Spice block insert?

What?

Huh?

Did I miss an accessory?

I thought I just handed them the rationell brochure and said "yes."
