Bamboo countertops serve multipurposes

Totally Bamboo recently unveiled solid bamboo countertops - 1- to 2-inch-thick planks ready to be fabricated into kitchen counters or islands. All planks are constructed with cross-band laminates called Multilam, a process that keeps the plank both flat and true, says company president Tom Sullivan.

The countertops come in four grained patterns, and there are a variety of backsplashes. Edges can be routed to suit any kitchen style. Cost is about $30 per square foot.

don't know if i'd do it for a counter, but backsplash might be really neat in the right kitchen

Can we get an end-grain block 4" thick with a curved front edge? $30 a square foot doesnt' sound half bad considering some of the quotes I'd gotten for blocks ~ a mere 24x36 - up to $1800.

They say they do custom thicknesses and they definately show endgrain on the site- very pretty effect on the edges.
