I have a problem. Hubby and I are getting ready to update the kitchen. I love the apron front sinks - like the Domsjo. But he absolutely HATES the white (plus our cabinets and granite are going to be dark). I have found stainless steel apron sinks online that we BOTH love and can agree on. But I need to know whether they are going to fit into the Ikea Domsjo cabinet. I've read some stuff where people used regular Ikea sink bases and modified them for apron sinks, and others where they used to Domsjo base and modified it. I'm not sure what to do.
Also, the apron sinks have 2 dimension. They have an inner dimension (the actual sink dimension) and an overall dimension (the outer perimeter). We only have room for a 24" sink base cabinet and a lot of the apron sinks I'm finding are overall 25" but have inside sink dimensions of 23 3/4". I don't know whether thats ok for the 24" base cabinet.

Welcome to IKEAFANS.

First off, there is no separate item called a Domsjo sink cabinet. The cabinet used for the Domsjo sinks is a regular base cabinet, but it is assembled slightly different than a base cabinet for a "regular" sink.

The interior dimension of a 24" IKEA cabinet is 22 1/2" (+/-), so your sink may not work without some sort of modification to the cabinet.

Is there a link to information about your sink that you can post?

This is one of the ones I've found that we're looking at. There are some others with similar dimensions.
I guess I just assumed there was a special cabinet for the Domsjo sink because in the back of the kitchen planning guide there is a separate space for Domsjo sink cabinets separate from regular cabinets (and they have a different price than the regular sink cabinets).

That particular sink will work fine, though you may have to do some work to get the doors to fit - adjustment, moving of hinges, or cutting down the height of the doors.

The difference in pricing in the catalogue is because you don't have to purchase drawer fronts for the "kit" - the sink sits in that space - so you're only paying for the cabinet and doors.

Speaking of stainless steel and Domsjo, has anyone built or seen a picture of the Domsjo sink (white) and stainless steel doors?
