Well, I think that you can do that with no problem- faucets are intended to be freestanding (if they are bottom mount- vs wall-mount, e.g. they don't emerage from the wall) and shouldn't in anyway need a wall to hold them up.
Hjuvik is a bottom mount faucet, so island install away!!
Really, I don't know. The big Hujvik has a horizontal thing attatched to it that is intended to be hooked into a wall, which I assume is why you're asking. Have you checked to see if that horizontal rod is removable?
I can only assume that it's there because freestanding, it would not able to adequately support itself. I don't have one, so I can't say for sure whether this would be the case or not. FWIW
, I do have the big Blanco Mastergourmet, which is quite similar in design and size to the big Hujvik but is intended to be supported only from below. I can say that it's not 100% stable as is. I've had to retighten and adjust it once already and I expect I'll have to do it again from time to time.
If you do need something to stabilize it, I bet you could install something coming up from the island behind the faucet for it to attach to. If the CAPITA offsets are sturdy enough for a countertop to be installed on, you could certainly get something in there sturdy enough to stabilize the faucet.
edited to add: as much as I truly love the Hjuvik faucet, it scares me to death. It is just WAY too tempting for my house, with a bunch of teenagers running around!
I know, don't those faucets just make you think that they are going to hose the entire place down??? Seriously, this is one of the reasons I went with a residential style faucet...
