Where did the Lagan Butcher Block countertops go?

I've been waiting till I could afford to remodel my kitchen and the other side of my duplex kitchen before I purchased the butcher block. I see online now it doesn't seem to be available anywhere in the larger size with no estimate of when they will get more. Is this a common thing with Ikea? I haven't had the opportunity to buy from them before. I really hope they become available again

Re: Where did the Lagan Butcher Block countertops go?

Welcome!

While I can't speak to the availability of Lagan, I can give this advice -

If you see something you love, make it happen, because there are NO guarantees it will be around tomorrow...

I have an Askome island that I now can't match the rest of my kitchen to, and the Solar Beech I loved disappeared rather quickly.

The bathroom cabinetry I was planning for is no longer available in light-colored finishes... and on, and on.

Best advice - be flexible!

Happy Holidays!

Re: Where did the Lagan Butcher Block countertops go?

Okay, so here is the bad news....It took me a year before I could make it happen!!!!! I first asked for it last January, I called and spoke with someone who said to check back in April. I checked back and a few had come in but were gone before I could do anything. So, I began to check every few days, yes obsessive, but it gets worse!!!! There were six pieces available, I live near Huntsville, Alabama and my nearest store is Atlants, Georgia...184 miles or 3 and a half hours away. So, I was sure to call and they said yes they are available but I couldn't reserve. We got there and one lady called the supply house and they said right it up manually and I could have them. She didn't know how to right it up, so when she asked a co-worker she said they were RESERVED....WHAT RESERVED, THEY SAID YOU CAN'T RESERVE!!!!!!!! I made the long track home, and yes, I had a little cry over counter tops. So, I was almost going to settle with the white cabinets and black countertops, but that is not how I seen my kitchen. I started checking EVERYDAY!!!! Finally, on Martin Luther King day there was a shipment!!! I called to ask if there was any way to reserve them and talked to a wonderful employee who said, "Sure, we have to do a credit card authorization and we can put them on hold". I made the trip, this time my hubby refused to go as he has not forgiven Ikea for making me cry. There were 12 on Monday and Wednesday when the doors opened, (yes, I left at 5:30) I got the last three!!!!!!!!! While talking to the employees on the phone they let me know that these are the quickest selling and they are never sure when they will have them, could be a couple of weeks, could be a couple of months!!!!!!
If this is your vision, stay on top of it!!!! Call until you get someone that likes there job and will help you!!!!!!! As today is only Thursday, we have not finished them, but we opened them to take a peek. My hubby is not impressed by any of this kind of stuff and thought I had gone mad and should let it go. His exact words, "It was worth the wait"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to IKEAFANS, Lashawnda.

Dealing with stock issues and IKEA purchasing policies can be frustrating, to say the least. But I'm glad things turned out for you in the end.

Re: Where did the Lagan Butcher Block countertops go?

I've given up on ikea as being the supplier of my countertops. I'm going with hardwood-lumber.com and doing hickory countertops. They're a bit more expensive, but hickory is a much harder wood, and is american produced and comes from sustainable forest harvests. I can also burn the scraps in my woodstove. They do have beech, oak, or ash which are less pricy options.

Re: Where did the Lagan Butcher Block countertops go?

I was able to score Lagan beech countertops at the Orlando store yesterday. I'd been checking availability for weeks without success, but earlier this week - there they were! Anyone trying to find them: check availability often - and soon. There are some rumors that they are being discontinued, and my Ikean initially said "no, out of stock" and when I asked her to check the computer, she was quite surprised to find them.
