I've found several posts complaining about defective units, but has anyone actually replaced their defective Hjuvik?

1. Did you get another brand or did you get the newer Hjuvik?

2. Did IKEA just exchange it? Free of charge? Or?

3. Did you have to take in the old one along with the receipt?

Ours is leaking out the control knob when turned off in the cold position--I'd say about a tablespoonfull a minute.

Very little or no leaking in the hot position.

I've left messages at IKEA Soughton MA Kitchens, but no return call... almost 300 miles roundtrip.... I'd like as much info as possible before removing the defective unit and walking in cold.

Holidays are over... despite being slowed down by cold, flu, and congestion... time to make the trek to Massachusetts.

Does anyone have any return experience with any IKEA faucet?

Finally returned our old style, twin-lever Hjuvik to IKEA Stoughton . With receipt, only problem was whether to credit the MasterCard or issue an in-store credit.

In the end they credited the MasterCard in full, for a March 2007 purchase! At this point, however, you're on your own :-)

– The new, single lever Hjuvik wasn't as appealing as the old one... absence of the standard spout... also, attachment / detachment of the sprayer was a bit fiddly.

Instead, we bought an Elverdam:

– It's a nice looking unit, but the pull-out nozzle does not switch to a high-speed spray.... constant speed, regardless of nozzle position.

– The epoxy / lacquer finish may not be as durable as the original Hjuvik.

– Unfortunately, the assembler's screwdriver apparently slipped, gouged the screw on the base of the Elverdam, and left a sharp 1/16" burr sticking up. Left a nice gash on one finger. Not nice.

Options...

1. Keep the Elverdam: Smooth off the burr... live with the lack of a true sprayer option.

Or return the Elverdam, and get a:

2. Delta Trinsic: Amazon $245 or HomeDepot $270.

3. Grohe 32 665 DC0 Concetto: $320 Amazon.

Anyone have any suggestions or comments?

I have some Grohe fixtures throughout my house and love them. My kitchen has the Domsjo sink and has a Grohe Ladylux plus and I really enjoy it.

Just installed the Elverdam...

– No change to the plumbing, but the Elverdam has significantly less pressure than the 2007, smaller Hjuvik. I think the Elverdam's more roundabout connector layout is the cause.
– Someone posted a comment on how they increased the Elverdam's pressure... I'll have to find it.

TwoIkea, thank you for your suggestion... I just saw the Grohe Ladylux Plus at Lowes today... looks good! Did you you use it to replace another faucet? How's the pressure?

If I can't pump-up its volume, it looks like the Elverdam will be making a return trip to IKEA... 'sure wish they had repair parts for the old Hjuvik :-(

I had an old Pegasus faucet that worked ok. Also, the Grohe there are two versions the regular one and the "Green" one that has a low flow. I have the regular one and it is really nice. I really like how the head has an internal spring so it retracts almost by it's self.

You can check Grohecatalog.com I think it is easier to use and no I do not work for Grohe.

Also on the pressure check to see the GPM on the aerator.

OK TwoIKEA... we're on it! Grohe Ladylux Plus 33 759... the regular, not the green.

Only issue is:
– SWMBO wants the SD0, All RealSteel.
– I prefer the KD0, RealSteel with black anodized handle and sprayer.
(Pressure's off... at least now we've running water in the kitchen sink :-)

P.S. Fiddled some more with the Elverdam's filter / aerorater... but still insufficient flow.

If you look at my kitchen i have the real steel with the black. I got a really good deal on it so i cant complain at all. Good luck and enjoy water as Grohe says

In the meantime, we got a pretty good deal on an all "RealSteel" LadyLux Plus from Amazon... good price and high Spouse Acceptance Factor... what else can you ask for? :-)
