Hi There, new to this forum. Did a quick search on this topic and didn't find anything, so I apologize if this has been asked before.
We are doing a kitchen remodel on a new purchase. All of the cabinets are being replaced and we are going with the applad white. However, there are 2 corner base cabinets on either side of the stove that seem to be custom sizes which we cannot natch up with ikea. The doors on these 2 cabinets are a oak like veneer (high gloss). We are planning on sanding them door and then would like to paint to match the rest of the doors. Read somewhere else that Benjamin Moore Simply White will match, but has anyone tried this? Is is close enough? I figure we need to spray (rent a sprayer) to match the finish.
Best bet? Take an APPLAD white door or drawerfront (for color matching) and the doors you need repainted to a decent auto body shop. They're setup to do perfect paint color matching and have the facilities to get a dust free finish. I know a couple of folks have done that and been very happy with the result, as it's only a couple of doors I don't imagine it'd cost too much and the final result will likely be a lot better with a lot less aggravation.

It's not the way I *prefer* to go, I'd probably want to use it as a good reason to buy the air compressor and spraying equipment. But honestly, getting a dust/lint/cat fur free finish is *NOT* an easy thing to accomplish, it's often nigh impossible in a home/home shop. Let us know what you decide to do and how it turns out? The other option would be to cut down/fabricate the Cabs you need and cut down APPLAD doors to fit, but if you're happy with the construction of the existing cabs and just want them to match it'd be a *HECK* of a lot less work.

My second alternative is to match them to my backsplash. What I have done in our currnent place, and what I will be doing in this new kitchen, is to use roofing flashing to creat a stainless steel "look" backsplash. I then finished off all 4 edges with a 1" stainless steel metal strip which is sometimes used for framing mirrors. Looks very good and everyone believes it is steel - even feels like it.
So, our other option is to make these doors an accent (rather than trying to match) and tie them into the backsplash.
If I go this route I will need to decide whether to try and bend the flashing around the edges of the door (which may be difficult) or instead to only do the face and use the metal strips to finish the edges off. This would leave the sides exposed (which I could paint white along with the back) but you wouldn't see that unless they were open.
