Last time I was on here I finally (with the help of many of you) was able to figure out a decent layout for our kitchen, but now I have to decide on Duvbo or Stat doors. I have never set foot inside an ikea, and have never seen either in real life, but after reading reviews and consumer reports I have chosen ikea. I really love the look of beaded board and wanted to go with similar pattern. Any input?

Re: Historic home-stat or duvbo?
Your choice may be very easy as Duvbo is in the process of being discontinued. Some stores have limited stock that they are liquidating but in general the pickings are quite slim.
I think Stat is a great choice for a Historic Home. Another option to consider is Lidingo. We have this line installed in our home and I think the raised panel is a very clean, classic look.
IKEA cabinets are really wonderful. I think you'll be very happy with your choice!
As an owner of Stat I would actually second Gwen. The Lidi (used to be Lidingo but they shortened it) is classic and lovely. The beadboard effect on stat is actually raised rather than recessed allowing it to look a bit more modern. It's lovely, but not historic imo.

I had wondered if the raised bead board (vs frame panels being raised) effect was caused by lighting or if it really was the reverse of every other cabinet maker, I like it but if thats the case then its not for this house.
But gwen (gasps) I love your kitchen, did you install the subway tile/field tile/3x6tile yourself? The only thing I refuse to try is hanging wall tile, I have a heck of a time trying to keep floor tile from moving while its setting in place, and its just laying there!!!
But I had noticed that the line of cabinets seemed a little downsized from the last time I checked, does anyone know if new styles will be coming out? I should have placed my order in March but I got a little surprise from the previous owner of my home in the bathroom, in the form of a rotted sub floor! The repair costs only came to 3x what the kitchen would have!
Duvbo was actually discontinued last yr, before the 2007 catalog (we're now seeing the 2008 come out ) so you might have been out of luck even in March.
That said, it doesn't seem like anything too traditional is coming out any time soon, believe it or not (which i can't) some think ikea has skewed too far from modern!
I love the Lidi, you should take a good look at it. If i was doing this kitchen again I'd pay the extra for Lidi (though i like my Stat)
If you don't find a style you want to use and if you don't mind having them painted, you could use one of the wood doors (such as Tidaholm, Lilijestad, or Fagerland) which are beautiful doors.

Laurie makes a great point . . . if you don't mind another few steps - painting would be another option to consider.
We hired a wonderful Russian to do our tile. He was an associate of our granite guy and did the tile in half a day for a few hundred dollars. It was SO worth it to have it done quickly and not have to fret about all the measuring, material, and installation details. The tile itself is cheap subway (but still good quality) from Lowe's costing less than $40 for our entire kitchen.
I know I've said it before, but you're kitchen is beautiful, Gwen. No one would ever know that they were "cheap" tiles. They look fantastic. I LOVE white subway tile with white cabinetry.
