I just got off the phone with Ikea Direct and ordered a Rubrik Green door.

I guess I'm getting obsessed, but I just need to see it in person and who knows when NJ will get them. And even then, the Ikean said I'd have to place the order at the store and come back 3 weeks later to pick it up (and since I don't own a car, this seemed to make more sense). It was $39 plus $18 shipping and tax for a total of $62 for the 15x30 door.

Will take up to 3 weeks.

She first said it was only for BASE cabs, but I told her the planner lets you put them on walls, and she said maybe she was confused with Rubrik SS which she said is too heavy for walls (?).

Then she said yes, Rubrik Green can come in 30 or 36 widths for walls but not 15's or 18's which goes against the Planner.

I wish they would publish the doors and their avail sizes online!

I was fishing around the UK site and I found this:

A rubrik green sink cab! So their solution is what someone on here said, just use higher doors.

Interestingly, this is a 40cm wide cab which is approx 24".... but the planner doesn't have a 24" rubrik green.

Well, I guess the first step is to see how I like the actual door compared to the Nexus YB I've been playing with.

And see if they could possibly work together.

The 2008 "All Kitchen Doors/Drawer Fronts" flyer shows Rubrik has only a single size drawer: 18" wide, in sets of 3. It has an 18" x 30" tall and an 18" x 39" tall door. And that is that!

BUT the full "Akurum" guide show the 15" drawers and doors in 30" and 39". With those sizes you can do 15", 18", 30", and 36" wide door cabs, base or wall, plus the 15" and 18" drawers. Plus there are 15" x 80" and 24"x80" pantries. Yet another case of Ikea not talking to Ikea It's a real shame you can't seem to get the wide drawers--they're so useful!--but there is a 30" wide set in stainless, which I guess is supposed to go with the Rubrik.

I do like it. It's actually darker in person than in this pic (sorry I took it with flash). you can tell cuz the NYBB is also lighter in the pic than in real life.

Nevertheless..i dont' think I'm going to do it. As much as I love green.....(my whole apt is green)..... I tink the silver frames are going to get in the way..plus not enough sizes to do the whole kitchen in green.

As of now I'm going with NYB (unless Nexus Brown ever develops).

Rubrik aluminum/colored glass for Akurum only comes in 15" and 18" sizes:

base/wall:
15x30
15x39
18x30
18x39
3-drawer set, 15"
3-drawer set, 18"

high cabinets:
15x80
24x80

As long as the cabinets you're doing accommodate these door sizes, you're golden. (Yes, I know that in the catalog pictures they show what appear to be 24" fronts, but those are not available in North America and must be for the Faktum system, as in what the rest of the world uses.)

You _can do a sink cab with Rubrik alum/glass doors, provided they are 30" tall and you're doing a 30" or 36" sink cab, thus requiring 15x30 or 18x30 doors. Just bear in mind that they're glass is all, but yes, they will fit base cabs.

For those interested in the Rubrik green or white or black, it's listed as discontinued as of August 08 so get it while you can. Odds are production has already come to a halt and any stock that's in warehouses is all we're gonna get.

And NEVER listen to the people at IKEA Direct. The turnover rate for them is so high they can't properly train people. Plus when you call and talk kitchens, you're just getting someone who order merchandise. They're not kitchen planners. Talk to people in stores. Call a store, hit zero and ask for kitchens. Leave a message and we try to get back to you ASAP.

It's not the best picture, but I've got one 18" stainless steel cabinet in my galley kitchen. It's the garbage pullout!

Nice! I tihnk i've given up on the Rubrik Green idea and focusing on NYB. i returned the doors this weekend
