Akurum/Faktum doorstyles to be discontinued in 2009
I just received word that the following doorstyles will be discontinued in 2009 - this means that they will be phased out over the course of the remaining 2008 catalog year (until June 2008) and not included in the 2009 catalog which comes out in August 2009. Stock may become unavailable before the end of the 2008 catalog year so don't wait until the last minute!
Applad Beige
Linjar High Gloss Blue
Kalsebo Beech
If you do decide to wait, or you come into this message late, you can expect to see these doorstyles go on sale in the spring - first at 30% off, then at 50% off - eventually they'll be pennies on the dollar and then gone. If you have a kitchen in one of these styles, you may wish to purchase some spare parts in case of tragedy, or in case you decide to expand your kitchen. If you want to buy spares, consider your most used doors/drawers and/or the ones that see the most traffic - these are the parts most likely to see damage.

OK, maybe you're right. There are plenty of white doors. But they could lose that new Solar door and replace it with one that had an integrated handle, not a carved groove. Wonder how well that Solar door is selling -- haven't heard anyone around here using it.
A wood door like the nexus with the integrated handle would be a welcome addition.

I betcha they don't know yet- they've probably got a bunch of contenders going through the final phases to see what they can reliably produce to the right price point...
OMG no more white doors! From what we hear, the rest of the world just can't get enough white kitchens. I would love the glossy black abstract with an integrated handle.

Yeah, August 08 is the end sale date for these styles. Not surprised with Linjar and Applad beige, but Kalsebo is a bit of a shock. IKEA NA is forecast to sell about 12% Kalsebo this year so discontinuing it is a little odd. Anyway, I don't agree with the post regarding sales methods for these series. Kalsebo won't go on sale. It's too popular and customers will gobble up doors. Linjar and Applad will go on sale but only at the end of August when the fiscal year ends.
As for A styles in the future, I can't say because we don't know past August but Adel medium brown is no longer listed as a room solution for Comm In which means it's 2 years from the grave yard. At least past experience tells me so.

What is the percentage sales of AMB? Was Kalsebo ever a "Comm In" room solution? They better get some more wood doors for NA if they are getting rid of AMB- holy cats, "late great" and "lamented" would be massive understatements!
