hi everyone - i've been lurking for a bit

i am about to do some major remodeling of my 1960's kitchen. i'd like to replace the cabinets (lidingo), countertops (butcher block), and my stove and stove hood. the stove i have is a real classic avocado green 40", as is the hood.

so, for layout purposes i have been trying to use sketch up (i have a mac), and for the life of me i cannot get it to work out. my kitchen is a big rectangle, with the far wall 18.5 feet, and the width 12.5. i am interested in the domsjo double sink and a slide in range. if i can fit all appliances on the far wall, it will give me room for a table and chairs on one wall, and my hutch on the other. i have a pot rack light in the center of the kitchen, under which i have a rolling island that i would like to keep.

so as far as the far wall - it is 221.5 inches. if you are facing the wall, the dishwasher is on the right in a 32" section of cabinet. it is the end of that run. to the left of the DW is the sink which is in a 43" cabinet (centered under the only kitchen window), to the left of that are two cabinets - the first is 24.5" then moving left the next one is 21.5". the big stove is to the left of that (40"). i then have a very awkward section of cabinets that add up to 50" - the refrigerator is on the left hand wall and when in place, it pretty much blocks off use of the end portion of those cabinets/counter space.

i really would like a more functional kitchen with a pull out pantry.

okay, i borrowed a pc at work and have done a mini remodel that will at least show my layout with the window and floor dimensions. as i said before the old cabinets are not a standard size - nor is the kitchen windown which is about 43" including trim...

the only tricky thing again is that i have a mac and rarely have access to a pc, so if anyone could translate the plan to a mac-friendly system i would really appreciate it!

I did a very quick sketch of a layout like what you propose but in such a huge space it seems odd to run the kitchen along a single wall. But it's impossible to plan alternatives w/o more info. Where are your doors? Maybe you could mark up this 2D version and post it back? Can you move plumbing? Do you prefer gas or electric? Entertain? How many in the family? How big is that hutch you want to use? How big is the table?

i will mark up the floorplan you have started with the specifics. i will also measure my table and hutch!
