Final Kitchen Plan - check up please?

Hi,

I think I finally jave my final kitchen plan and am about to go order it before dh changes his mind and keeps the old cabinets. I have attached it below.
If any of you experts could please look it over and give me any advice or things I am missing I would be very grateful.
How do I get the doors of the sink cabinet to go to stat white?
The island in the middle is supposed to be approx 50 " wide - 24" plus two 12 7/8 by its side and then an overhang of the wood countertop so I can put stools under it .....but it doesn't look like that!

Many thanks for all your help in advance

I will try to upload pictures of the current kitchen now also.

Re: Final Kitchen Plan - check up please?

Hi Maria,

Sorry I didn't see this before now. I love the huge window flanked by glass cabinets. That will be so beautiful!

The island seems way too close to the sink and counter on the left. 36" would be a minimum comfortable distance. Wall B is 14' 3" = 171," less 25" for depth of cabs and counter on both sides leaves 121," less the 50" for the island, leaves 71" for two aisles which is almost 36." Maybe it will be ok. If you want, you can slide your temporary island table over towards the stove and place it 35" from the edge of the cabinets there (the stove handle sticks out a little more than that) and see if it's comfortable for you. I wouldn't want you to feel crowded in that large gorgeous new kitchen.

I see you have lots of small drawers, you may want to consider some more larger drawers as well. I'm thinking to the right of the pantry cabinet, you could have a 36" W one instead of the two 18's. Have you tried the wire basket cabinet in the store? Do you have a particular use in mind for it? It can be helpful to make a list of all the things you'll want to store in the kitchen and where you'd like to put them. The drawers on the 12"D cabinets are only about 9"D interior depth.

To the left of the dishwasher, between the drawer cabinet and the blind cabinet in the corner, there should be a couple inches of filler so when you pull those drawers open, they don't hit the knobs on the blind cabinet. The blind cabinet already has built-in filler so its drawer won't hit the knobs on the drawer cab.

To choose finishes in the planner, you select the cabinet and then change the doorstyle. I noticed a couple cabinets in Adel White and the Perfect wine cubby is Oak, not sure if that's intentional, but it does come in white also. The cover panels should all be "finish white" not Adel or Abstrakt white.

A 3'x8' cover panel (cut to size) on the end of the refrigerator run is recommended to hold up the deep over-fridge cab and make it look finished. On the left of the fridge, you could use another, or a regular tall cover panel to finish that side. The regular tall cover panel does not go to the floor, only to the bottom of the cabinet it's attached to.

It's a really nice plan. I looked at your before pictures. That's an interesting vent hood. Is it copper? Is it staying? Are you eliminating the door on the left side of the room?

Re: Final Kitchen Plan - check up please?

Hi Gloria

Many thanks for your comments. I ordered the kitchen yesterday (Friday) from Burbank and got a very good sales person who pointed out most of the points you made below!! You are very experienced.

I had to change the 18" drawer to the left of the dishwasher to a 15". She said not to put the cabinet together until the end and if an 18" fits then I could exchange it. I also got the panels etc. I changed the plan around a bit on the pantry wall. I also deleted the island altogether and ordered a stenstorp stand alone island and a new aok top to match the countertop. I should have got a 36" 4 drawer to the right of the panty - i ordered 2 x 18" ....maybe I can return them.

We opened up the window to a full size one. I will take some more photos when the builders are finished. We are hoping to have the new tile laid next weekend and then the cabinets delivered on Tuesday week and start putting them together aaahhhhh thats the scary bit and then I have to leave to go to Ireland on Dec 9th - I wonder if we will have it finished by then..........

I have attached the last ordered plan - still dont lnow how to do the=umbnails and I can't find the post that described it

I'm so glad you got a good Ikean who was able to help you.

For future reference (and for anyone else wondering) here's info on how to post screenshots from the planner: IKEA Planner: How to Save and Post Plans at IKEAFANS

Looking forward to following the progress pictures!
Best wishes,
