Discuss Installation video (VCR) & Posters on IKEAFANS.com. We're Personalizing the IKEA Experience. Installation video (VCR) & Posters - Need help with planning your remodel? Want a kitchen planner to review your ideas? This is the happenin' spot!.
I'll be finished with mine soon if anybody has a kitchen on order and wasn't able to get the video (no DVD's in my area) or installation posters. I'd be happy to throw them in the mail to you in 10 days. (Going to slave away at my Mom's for a week painting her kitchen!)
I think I read on one of the forums that some of you weren't able to get these.
Also, if you want the instructions for putting together the various cabinets so you can ponder them before you actually get your cabinets I'd happily part with the ones I have. (Kinda saddistic of me )
Are the posters really necessary? We got the DVD but they were out of posters. We plan to start tomorrow and so far I think the DVD shows me everything I need to know - plus all the good stuff at this site helps a great deal too!
I found the posters good for sticking on the wall while doing the various measurements. They were right there for me to check measurements. (Brain like a sieve...too much drywall dust, I think :?) That's about all they were good for...a reference chart stuck next to my eyes. And, I liked to be able to read them over during coffee hour in the morning before I began the process.
Good plan! I'd rather send them forth to James& Susan. Though I fully believe that I am a wiz on the computer, I'm liable to set of the next atomic bomb if I start trying to scan this many things. (Bells will start ringing, things will start beeping, oh scarey stuff!!!)
Send me the mailing info, if this is cool by them, and I'll post them.
Video & box construction instructions still up for grabs if anyone wants/needs them.
Reduce/reuse/recycle!
Laura
(Edit: spelling ~ ****ed drywall dust has coated my braincells)
timberstone! I'll gladly accept the posters, and I'll take all comers on the Video/DVD offerings. Actually, to save money, I'll just ask everyone to hold on to theirs as they finish and then mail them back out to folks in need. As far as the instructions go, I think I have most of the important ones on the Fansite side (under IKEA Instructions), and can get others in .pdf format if we need them, but thanks for the offer! I would surely lose my mind trying to scan all that info!
I'll shoot you a PM with the mailing address.
Susan

I would love to have the poster and video or dvd. I had posted a request for instruction video/dvd a couple of weeks ago, but no luck yet. They were out when we got our cabinets delivered two weeks ago.
I will gladly pay to have it sent to me & then (also happily) return it. I got all of my upper cabinets built on Saturday, but I am afraid to take the next step in attaching my hanging rail to my wall. It is a concrete block wall, so I can't be "off" a little- since I wouldn't be able to redrill holes in the block close to where they had been previously. Also, I have several drawer bases that I still need to build - and they seem a bit daunting.
I was hoping to start hanging them this (long) holiday weekend.
It's a non-problem, you're good to go. The reason is that the suspension rail has a LOT of holes on it... I mean a **LOT** of holes. Which ones you use really doesn't matter in the slightest as long as you have ones fairly close to each end and as many more as it takes to make you feel comfortable. I think the suspension rail has like 3 holes per inch? Take a look at the Suspension FAQand you'll see what I mean. You've got soooo many tries to get good anchors you wouldn't believe it.
Relax, the suspension rail will NOT cause you a problem, at least not the one you're worried about.. Kidding, you shouldn't have any problems with it at all.
James

I do have a set of the posters, but we had dropped the priority on getting them scanned (they would require a large scanner - they're 24"x36") due to the fact that we were told a few times that IKEA discontinued them because there were more errors than correct information on them. I can't verify that because I haven't inspected them, but I did pull them out just the other day. I had intended to take them with us this weekend when we went out of town to get them scanned, but well...best laid plans and all that.
All that to say no...we don't have them on the site. It will be at least the weekend before we could get them scanned as we're 50 miles from a city with a chance of having a scanner that big. Sorry! I can post back here when we get them scanned if that will help - and we'll certainly post them on the IKEApedia.
