| Planning on Custom Doors/Plinths/Covers (Scherr's) -- Any advice?
I think this is a pretty common refrain: we want to have white cabinet doors, but we also want real wood, because the melanine foil just feels wrong for our house (built in 1914). We had been looking to paint Tidaholm (picking it over Fagerland for aesthetics), but after reading about Kate1234's experience, and testing replacing the Tida glass on an as-is door (we want just plain glass in the doors), we think we're going to try Scherr's.
Tomorrow we'll be placing our order at the Atlanta Ikea, and having them break the order into two lists: one with the cabinet doors, plinths, and cover panels, and the other with everything else. We'll buy/pick up the latter list, and just keep the door/plinth/panel list in case we do want to get them from Ikea (Atlanta Ikea does not keep any Tida in stock--takes 3-4 weeks to get them after ordering) -- and we'll send that list to Scherr's to get the quote from them.
Does anyone have any advice for dealing with Scherr's in terms of making sure that the right hole pattern is drilled? How are they in knowledge about Ikea-sized drawer fronts, cover panels, and plinths?
Thanks for any advice you can give!
