Dog feeding station!?!?!

When we finally decided to wrap our floor tile around our island and right up to the back door (we have three large dogs), an old idea (of zeuss') came to mind -- the dog feeding station. We'll have a nice space just past the door to the outside, about 42" wide x 26" deep, that just BEGS for something.

Early days yet, so I thought I throw this open and see what idea pop out....

Re: Dog feeding station!?!?!

I will attempt to take some pictures tonight of what we have for our 4 pets (2 big dogs, 2 parrots)... It's in the base of a 24" Pantry. We bought 2 rubbermaid tubs from the Container Store that each hold 40lbs of food. DH modded a shelf that slides in and out to hold the food. It works well for us.

(I have promised over the last 6+ months to take pics of this thing but never have. Hopefully the guilt will overcome me and I will finally do it!)

Re: Dog feeding station!?!?!

Do you mean something where your dogs can actually eat? I've seen these done in a deep drawer...you basically just build a box with cutouts on the top high enough so the bowls can easily be reached by doggies. I've also seen people store the kibble in the drawer above, and it's easy to scoop right into the dishes. If you've got really big dogs, maybe the middle drawer would be a better height. You could do a 30" drawer with a 12" next to it for supplies.

Then you just have to teach the doggies how to open the drawer!

Re: Dog feeding station!?!?!

We had to move where the treats are because Lazlo kept scratching at the NEXUS YELLOW BROWN! NOOOOOOO!!! McGuyver made a really big slow doggie deal out of where he moved them to...
