Does self-cleaning oven cycle affect cabinets?

Hi,

I've read a few posts regarding peeling doors from heat from dishwashers and ovens. We have Applad White cabinets, which I believe are thermofoil.

We want to clean our oven, but now I'm afraid to.

How many people out there have thermofoil cabinets and have run the self-cleaning cycle on their ovens and NOT had a problem with their cabinets peeling? I assume anyone with the wood cabinets would not have this problem.

Thanks.

Re: Does self-cleaning oven cycle affect cabinets?

Hi kirtexas!

I've heard more about moisture causing some minor damage (like a single door) around a dishwasher or sink, not heat.

Your IKEA kitchen has at least a 10 year warranty, if not a 25 if it's newer. I have Nexus Yellow Brown and tonight I cranked my oven up to 500 for a significant time to bake home made pizzas- to your point, a veneer not thermo foil- no issues.

I say clean your oven without fear- this site collects what there is to collect about IKEA- if these cabinets failed on a widespread basis we would have as many posts about that as we do about how notoriously bizarre and frequently missing the instructions for certain IKEA beds are. And you know? We don't. So, my feeling is that problems are probably due to the individual door, not an integral flaw.

And if they get weird? IKEA owes you new dang doors.
