Stove next to sink without any gap = safety issue. Unless there's really no choice whatsoever, you want a some landing space on both sides of the stove. For convenience, landing space next to a sink is good too.
You'll lose some cabinet space in this plan, but no fridge to block off the opening. A Bravad standalone cabinet serves as the island.

Moderne baroque is very in this year in France. Lots of black (and some white) shiney materials with baroque shapes. All the shops have stuff, from lamp shades to chairs to mirrors. There are alot of shiney black kitchens are which use the baroque style as an accent.
To link it in with mid centruy danish I assume you are talking more about the white pieces than the black; I have seen scandanavian style with white painted baroque and it can work very well.
To give one possible example of baroque moderne, we are doing Rubrik stainless lower cabs with white carrera marble counters; my interior designer friend, based in Milan is insisting that we use ornate gilt Louis XV handles on them (not sure if we will, though). In my house it would work because we have an eclectic mix of antiques and mid-century pieces, but it is more Belgian in design than French or Danish.
Hi everyone!
Well, we finally signed on our apt! Now we need to fix it. Co-op rules and things I have to have a "contractor" do the big stuff of ripping down walls and such. Which is fine--saves my back. So far I am not having luck with tracking any down or one that returns calls...Any recommendations for nyc contractors?

HI. I'm on the UWS in the 100's.
Had the same experience with people not calling back.
Ask your co-op board if they have a list. That's what I did. Of that list i almost went with the is one guy KD Contracting but ended up swtiching to someone recommended on here simon Parson. He hasn't begun work yet. Dn't know if he rips out walls (i'm doing floors, kitchen and some minor carpentry).
