A frig next to a wall is in general a bad idea because you won't be able to open the door fully without hitting the wall. If you hinge it the other way, you are leaning against the wall when you look in the frig. However, you do do decide to do it that way, you will want as large a filler as possible.
For the tall pullout pantry, it depends how square the wall is. I suggest a 2" filler.

my plan sounds similar to Sarschlos, but am only allowing 1" filler between the short wall (31" D) and my tall pantry with drawers.
as far as my fridge (35.5" W), the wall there is also short (34" D) and am planning 1 inch. Ikitchensetc, am i cutting to too close or is this just NOT even going to work?
I have a 30" sub zero fridge right next to a wall and I have plenty of access. It's also next to a 30"x88" pantry. Here is a photo so you can tell approx. how much filler is there. There is also filler on the other side of the pantry. I can measure if that would be helpful.
illbill, I think you could get away using a 1" filler strip. Are you doing a pull-out pantry with the drawers attached to the door or a door that opens with drawers inside? The pull-out should work with a 1" filler. The door/drawer combo might work depending on which way you hinge the door an as long as you have the handle missing the half wall.
The frig can be an issue depending on the type of frig you use. Again, it has to do with the opening of the door. Liz has a Sub-Zero as do we and the hinges pivot on the door thickness. That is because the doors are meant to be flush with the adjacent cabinets. So sort of a special case with the SZ. Even still, it looks like she has a 4" filler strip on the left-side. If your handles miss the half-wall, you may be able to open the frig enough to access it.
ikitchensetc-
i'll be using a pull-out pantry (not my first choice, but this way i KNOW it will fit. the fridge should work too, as the max width includes hinges and the doors, when open at 90 degrees, aren't any wider than the fridge "box." thanks.
and thanks also to sarschlos for letting me join in on her question/post.
