Hi,
So I am planning, on paper at present, my NYB kitchen. The entire room is 21.5' x 8' (long an narrow - but typical in NYC where I live) and the ceilings are 102" high. On the far wall that faces a corner window and will have all the appliances (don't ask, NYC plumbing, etc. that cannot be easily moved...), I want to stack wall cabinets one above the other across the expanse of the wall, with either rubrick white on top and NYB below or vice versa; the base cabs will be NYB with white boxes and a white quartz CT and frosty blue subway tile backsplash. Given the length of wall, where the range is etc., the only way to achieve this is by using either WFR3018 on the upper and then W3630 on the lower part of the wall cabinet row, OR by using WFR3024 on the upper and WFR3624 on the lower part of the wall cabs. The goal is to achieve that streamlined row of cabinets look. Now that combination is 48" from the top of an 18" backsplash, and I THINK we are gonna make it. In case we do not, I could do WFR3018 for the upper in NYB and WFR3624 in Rubrik white, which takes us to 42".
OK so my first BIG question is: can I use those WFR "fan" cabinets as cabinets? (Do they have shelves or would I have to buy some - can I even do that? or are they so short that I would not need to?)
My second question is: do you think the NYB will look good with the Rubrik white glass doors (I want glass doors to reflect the light coming into the windows, and while I had planned on the avsikt, they do come in the needed heights, so I am thinking of rubrik).
I will try to plan this on the planner tonight, but when I started a new project the other day it was impossible to use.
THANKS in advance all!!
Cheers,
Victoria
Welcome! I must admit to being confused by your description so I look forward to seeing your planner file. But yes you can put shelves in fan cabs: they're just shorter cabs. All of Ikea is modular: you buy the parts you want.
Hi Beth,
Thanks for the reply; when you say shorter cabs - you do not mean the depth do you? Because they would be stacked atop regular size upper cabinets...
Thanks!
