While I am here...anyone who has seen it, can you comment on the necessary opening on the corner unit for it to work? Ours is only 18" wide with the alterations. I can't use it, can I?

Yes, we altered our 49" corner unit opening to 18" - but I did get the 21" wide door for it and maybe we could cut the cover panel to make the opening wider. The 36" corner unit has a 21" door but I don't think we put a post in so we may not be able to alter it.

We need someone to get one of each of these new lady Susans and try them out. AND upload the instructions! DH is going to the Atlanta IKEA in a month so maybe I'll ask him to look for them - depending on how much they cost...

Re: New and Discontinued IKEA Kitchen Products for 2009

My feeling is that those widths are different made specifically for N American market. In Australia, (we are also metric) this cabinetis 120cm wide, I have measured it so I am 100% sure. However, if it is only 4cm difference it might be that the lazy susan fits both, only that in the slightly wider ones you will have more space.

Regarding the lazy susans - the prices are lower than indicated in the press release. I just got the one for the upper wall corner cabinet for $59. The lower corner unit new half-moon lazy susan was $79 I believe. The old style is on sale for $24 or something close.

Good news too, I really wanted that lazy susan and was not going to pay $119 for it

I would be extremely grateful if you could take a pic of the wall cab lazy susan Nawillard when you install one. I would absooooolutely love one and I am not sure if we will have them in this upside down continent so I will have to somehow arrange a package from Europe or the States.

Re: New and Discontinued IKEA Kitchen Products for 2009

Two things:
1) The Solar Beech doors are on display in Schaumburg and they are BEAUTIFUL.

2) They didn't have the new pull-out lazy susan for the 49" corner cabinet on display, but thanks to this site I knew to ask for it, and lo and behold they had it in stock! Has anyone determined if it can be fit into an existing cabinet? I haven't even opened the box yet and I can't wait to know!!

Re: New and Discontinued IKEA Kitchen Products for 2009

I just brought the box inside and opened it...VERY happy to report that it looks like these can be installed in existing 49" cabinets. They install just like the old semi-circular shelves do, but these have a different mechanism that also slides out. VERY excited. VERY, VERY, VERRRRRRYYYY!!!

Re: New and Discontinued IKEA Kitchen Products for 2009

Hrm.

I just got back from Ikea and they told me that I had get a new cabinet for the new lazy susan, so I have to lug the %@$#! thing back and return it, then buy a new one. They claim it has a different partition for the lazy susan to attach to. Grrrr.

Re: New and Discontinued IKEA Kitchen Products for 2009

Oh NOOOOO! Seriously???? I am looking at all the parts here and it looks like it should work. Could you tell us what the difference is when you see it? Until then, I'm blocking this from my mind...I'll be DEVASTATED if it doesn't work!!! This lazy susan was about to make up for all the Nexus black brown craziness I've endured....

Re: New and Discontinued IKEA Kitchen Products for 2009

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the partton is different in the old one. I just brought the lazy susan home and there is a bracket that fits around the partition and it is only ~3/4 inch wide and the old partition is thick ~3 inches.

I have already installed the box since they told us the new one would fit, so it is a real pain, and the new lazy is a much superior product to the original, it is very sturdy.
It does seem like the only difference is the partition, is it possible to get single piece replacement from IKEA? Otherwise I am going to have to try and hack it which probably isn't so hard.

Does anyone have the dimensions of the new partition?
