Re: New and Discontinued IKEA Kitchen Products for 2009
I heard from one of the ladies working in the kitchen design area that the lansa handles were being discontinued. I'm not happy about that being that I was planning my kitchen with them in it.
Re: New and Discontinued IKEA Kitchen Products for 2009
ragefear,
I think someone mentioned that though the current Lansa style handles are being discontinued, there will be a similar style that will be thinner and not so chunky:

it appears they have changed the design
the lansa handles were not to be found for a while in my store, and they came back this morning. However they seem to have made the larger bar smaller in diameter (I'd say 1/2 inch or so)

I think they should use Blum elevation system on the horizontal cabinets, and some sliding like the Hettich they use on the wardrobes ,just been today visiting this site: Rossana cucine and in some details and finishings is where the 20 000 € kitchen cabinets are.
And tho Ikea system works fine at a very wide range of possibilities and at a very affordable value, some options seem to, very much, mass production "economicist".
But that's their corporative policy or whatever they call it.
I just wish Nexus had a more wide variety of woods/grains/colors and some glossy finishings. I would also love Ikea to have the handles in the same finishing, tho the takta ones are a nice touch of wood, I like the strecket, annars and linear ones in general.

Here are some (unofficial) new items scheduled for August 2008 introduction:
1. PERFEKT shelf (I believe replacing the 9" unit) - in both 30" & 39" heights - the 30" unit has five compartments, the 39" has six. Colours include: stainless steel, white, oak, black, yellow-brown, brown-black and brown.
2. PERFEKT wine shelf (also a 9" unit) - similar design as the existing 15" wine rack, but with two bottles/shelf. Colours: Liljestad, Fagerland and white.
3. New toekicks: beech (ADEL Beech), brown (NEXUS Brown), beech (SOLAR Beech), stainless steel colour and black (APPLAD Black). This would of course imply new cover panels as well (except for the stainless colour).
4. As mentioned elsewhere there are RUBRIK Orange and Yellow doors coming...these are listed as 'Add-on fronts APPLAD'.
5. The existing RUBRIK glass doors are being replaced with new ones (white, green, black and blue-grey) - the difference is the new doors have a 45mm (1.75") frame vs. the old 90mm (3.5") frame.
6. NUMERAR countertop in a black-brown/ concrete effect combo.
7. PRAGEL countertop in yellow ().
8. New lazy susans (sorry Susan)...both base corner cabinets with solid melamine storage surfaces, and a glass-shelf unit for the corner wall cabinet.
This would finally explain the two holes in the wall cabinet...
9. The 49" blind corner cabinet will include the drawer partition...which should put an end to the eternal 'what is this part for?' question.
10. Again, as mentioned elsewhere the new doors are: APPLAD Black, ADEL Beech, NEXUS Brown, TIDAHOLM Brown-black and SOLAR Beech.
I have art.#'s for most of these items, but will wait until later before releasing them...there may well be changes between now and August, but have fun with the above.

btw, anyone watching Big Brother this season can see a good example of how the yellow & orange doors could be incorporated into a kitchen.
and torrus (thank you for all that, btw!) i'm hoping that glass shelves (unit, whatever) for the wall corner cabinet also means we might finally get a glass door for that thing????
