I'd love some opinions on which door style would suit my kitchen.
I've put some pics of my present kitchen in the galleries.
My kitchen is small, with a lot of wood, floors, window etc all in an old knotty pine. The kitchen also has a brick chimney.
I have ordered some doors to see, adel white, adel birch, urkisdal and I have the tidalholm.
I love white kitchens but am not sure if it would suit my kitcehn, maybe I should stick with wood?
I'm going to mention one that you didn't order - Stat White. I am partial to Stat as I have it in my own kitchen. However, it would look nice in your space. My second choice would be the Adel White.
You have a lovely space there. Depending on the combination of materials, you may make any door style work.
The proportions of the adel doors would fit in very well with your room (but I really like them so I think they work in any room). Anyway, the birch has the most play in it - you see lighter and darker areas depending on the piece and the angle - that might work well for you because it would complement the slightly darker wood you've got going on without trying to match, but still have a light effect over all. That said, when you have all your sample doors in hand you'll probably have a clear favorite.
Thats a tough question - what is the style of the rest of your house? Do you like it? are you changing it? It is hard to decide that for someone as it is such a personal decision - I love most door styles and appreciate them in others spaces - I love the look of modern but would look way out of place in my house - personally I love the Adel white but that is just me.
I believe in trying to find an inspiration space to give you some direction - do you have any magazines for kitchen - take a look through and get an idea of your style and what you can see in your space.
Have you written a mission statement yet? This will give us a better idea what style you may be if you do not know.
Your Adel white kitchen looks great! I am most drawn to white kitchens. I have bought 2 kitchen magasines this month and both have white kitchens on the covers that I love.
The rest of my house had alot of wood as well, same floors and the doors and windows are similar to the one in my kitchen.
I like a cozy relaxed style, modern (altough I like) would not suit my space.
Is the Adel white the least shiny of the white doors from Ikea? It seems that way to me.
You have a great space to work with. All the doors you mention are favorites of mine! Good for you for ordering four of the doors to see how they look in the space.
It's interesting to have wood floors and brick for texture. I have that in my kitchen and love it. I found that for contrast, I was attracted to a smoother cabinet front (Adel).
Depending on what you are doing for appliances, the Adel white isn't as bright white as my DW and fridge and it bugs me a little that there are two whites in the kitchen. Adel white is more of a matte texture.
Your kitchen door also reminds me of Adel, but then again I'm partial to that style!
Hi,
Thanks for the compliments - I loved that kitchen - we did it in my Moms house we sold.
it turned out fantastic.
Just my .02 but I find the stat white a very shiny bright white. The adel is more warmer and less of a gloss - but that being said, and without starting a debate it is just my opinion.
I looked at your photos again of yoru home and LOVE the door mouldings -your home is obviously older to have that much detail in the door moulding.
The one thing I love about Adel line that it is timeless. Can fit in almost style you are after - i am jadded though as I love it myself.
I think (once again just my .02) that the Stat white is a bit too country for me with the beadboard look that you will always be commited to.
With the adel it is timeless.
I love white kitchens - they are my favorite.
Do you have any idea of layout etc?
Have you downloaded the planner yet - but most of all - write a mission statement of how you want your new space to function and look - what do you like about your current kitchen - what do you want your new one to be like and function - do you have specific storage needs?
Sounds a bit odd to write a mission statement but trust me - it really makes a huge difference - for you and those here who will want to help you.
