I am torn between two options at this point
the first is on the stove wall having only one glass cabinet and the other is having two glass cabinets.
there are some things I can not get the planner to do such as put in fillers and the big cover panel to cover the fridge cabinet and to go down to the floor to make it look built in for the fridge which is not in the planner.
The other thing is that while the room is not very tall in the plan it is because there is a bulkhead of 3 inches above the cabinets and the cabinets will be mounted flush with the bulkhead.
It does not show it but the wall that is beside the dishwasher is a solid wall the other side is an door opening.
I also heard that once you bring your plans into the store that they use a different system to do the planning and that there is a good chance that everything is going to change? Is this true?
First. a disclaimer: I'm at my beloved Mac (DH has laptop with him) and if I'm not mistaken, I can't open the fpf files.... so I'm just looking at your thumbnails, so I don't have a full picture.
That said, I have a couple comments: where's the sink? Where do you eat?
If the glass cabinet fronts are where you're keeping dishes, I'd want them close to the dishwasher and sink (which should be near one another, IMHO.) And I like my primary work space to NOT be next to the stove, but nearer the sink.
the sink will be be beside the dishwasher in between the sink and the fridge tehre will be a 12 inch cabinet.
It is a condo gally kitchen with no eat in facilities. We have a combo dining and living room.
I find that with how small it is when I am doing large dinner parties that I don't have enough room beside the stove.
I do my prep by the sink where the dishwasher is and then move all my stuff over to beside the stove to cook and serve.
NOt sure if I will store the dishes on the sink side or the other side.
The horizontals make a strong design statement but they aren't as practical as regular vertically aligned cabinets. In such a small space, I think you rely too heavily upon them. The second upper one will be hard to use and two layers at the sink doesn't really allow much headroom. I would switch to mostly regular cabinets, but consider keeping a single (high) layer at the sink, for a different look and for extra headroom.
Regarding the system used in-store: We just ordered cabinets in the Schaumberg store on Saturday. The employee -- Ming, I think -- was going to access our fpf, but when he saw that we had printed out the list of items needed from the planner, he just referenced that and didn't use the file. It took about five minutes for him to have an order printed out for us. We double-checked it, and an hour later it was ready to put in the car.
I was sort of wondering about how practical they are.
When I played with them at the store I thought they seemed fine, even with the ones that were placed lower down.
but when I plan out other ideas I just don't seem to like the look as well. I guess I am going for a mix of function and looks. I want it to flow really well.
I have thought about doing a single row above the sink actually but then I will lose alot of valuable storage. I also dont want any open shelving as it will just end up becoming a junk collecting place
I actually plan to place my everyday dishes in one of the 30 inch drawers and place more service pieces and less used dishes in the some of the others over the sink, so I am not going to be going into those as often as I will be other cabinets.
As for the ones on teh stove side I was thinking about using them for glasses and mugs.
do you think given where I plan to place things that will make some difference?
If a a new DW and a 18" wide sink is possible you can have extra storage.
One thing about you kitchen is that I would use all fronts with integrated handles, like Solar, so no sticking out elements, better for moving around a small space like yours.
hmm that gives me something to think about it...
not sure if I can talk my partner into a smaller sink and smaller diswhasher but it is worth a shot.
I wish I could actually move the stove more center like you have it but I can not due to where the vent is...I am stuck with the stove in that location!
