I hope someone can help. Back in December I bought some new furniture for my office, and while looking at ways to hang/hide all of the pc wiring I stumbled on a nifty site that showed various ingenious modifications people have made to standard IKEA stuff.
One of the posts showed how a couple of people had modified the front panel on the IKEA sink cabinet to hinge out and have a couple of small trays in it for gloves, sponge, drain plug etc. I only skimmed the post and didn't bookmark it since I was not doing kitchen stuff at the time. Well now I am doing a major kitchen remodel with IKEA cabinets and can not find the site/posting again!! I am really frustrated as I will be installing my cabinets in less than 2 weeks and really want to have the hinged panel at the front of my sink.
My question is - has anyone stumbled on the site too? If so can you find it again? Or post a link of how to do it? I could have sworn it was this site, but I could be wrong.
Hi and Welcome to IKEAFANS! I'm guessing you saw that here somewhere....not sure if this article is in the links Anne gave you above, but here's the one Tigger wrote about our tip-out tray installation. http://www.ikeafans.com/forums/artic...y-installation
GREAT!!!!! Thanks so much for the help one of them was the one I had stumbled on! I was just searching for the wrong key words - Tip Out Tray never occurred to me! I am doing a 36" wide base so I will have to either rig them to tip together (like my old one did as one drawer front) or rig a divider in the center to mount more hinges to. Has anyone tried one or the other and have any words of wisdom!
That worked!!! Thanks so much for all of your help!!!Now I just have to decide which route I am going to take! On top of all the other decisions and tasks ahead of me!
Hey everyone! I'm realizing I really did not do the appropriate planning for my kitchen remodel. I just found this site the day we started the remodel, and I'm getting so many ideas every time I look!
I paid my contractor to put together my cabinets. The sink was supposed to go in today, but due to countertop issues it didn't. Now I've found this beautiful thing called tip out trays?! OMG! I must have this! The sink cabinet is all put together, panels, doors and all. Can I still attempt this hack myself? I know it may sound silly, but I don't want the whole thing to fall apart or anything crazy if I take off the panels and try this...
