Hello All,I'm glad that I found the forum as we are remodeling the interior of our new home and with it comes designing the new kitchen. Due to structural constraints we must keep the galley style and due to technological constraints (Mac) I cannot upload an Ikea plan for my STAT white kitchen with NUMERAR hardwood countertops. However I would appreciate any comments on my plan which is as follows :Â*http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g2...a46b030b.jpgÂ* ( Pic of demolished kitchen)LeftÂ*side of window, starting from window :12 inch pull-out base unit - PERFEKT DUVBO wine bottle rack on wall24 inch, 2 drawer base unit with induction cooktop - hood16 inch, 5 drawer base - 16 inch glass front wall unitDishwasher - PERFEKT DUVBO 18 dish rack with shelf on wallDOMJO sink and unit- same size glass front wall unit12 inch pull-out base unit (to support sink) - PERFEKT DUVBO end of run, 5 shelf wall unit. Hi! And welcome to the forums! I'll wait and see what stacy comes up with in the planner, and then I will be able to visualize the specs a bit better.

Am I understanding you correctly that you will be using the tall (I think they are 10 inch) capita legs? Will you be able to use a countertop at that height?

Hi Cyndi_L --

Welcome to the forums! We're glad you found the site as well!

If you're on a Mac, you're eventually going to want to know how you can get "returns" or paragraph breaks in your posts. Try Firefox -- it seems to work better than Safari, and most of our Mac members have found it to be perfectly functional.

France, eh?

Susan

Thanks all for your comments and for putting the picture inline.Â*About the kitchen, it is 7,5 feet wide, one side wall is 10,35ft and the other 14.10ft including a 2.5ft doorway. On either side of the window there are 2 feet, just enough to get cabinets in and not touch the actual window. The window is about 4 feet by 5ft and sits a mere 2.3 ft from the floor. It all forms a kind of L shape as the wall opposite the window(14.10ft) continues towards the left.Â*Thanks Stacy for offering to put it into the planner for me!Eva- I calculated the Capita leg height from a calculation that I read about how counters should be 15 cm below the elbow. I think the overall height comes to a bit over 3 ft with the countertop thickness. It is a comfortable height as my current countertops are just slightly lower.Â*Cyndi

Worked picked up... apparently it's not good to tell anybody that you don't have much to do because they'll give you soemthing to do for sure!

A couple things I've found

No Faktum in the planner - I think it's a European thing as I found it using the French Ikea site but not the US.

I'm playing with some of the stuff and I may be way off base on it so I'll post my start later tonight and we can go from there!

Ok... here's what I'm thinking you said. Please correct me if I'm wrong and know that the planner I have doesn't have some of the European stuff...

If anybody else wants to play, PM me and I'll give you the password to my account.

take a look at some of the layouts I considered for my galley kitchen:

I put some of the getting done photos on:

http://s65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...almost%20done/

One side of our galley has no upper cabinets -- only the range hood is up on the wall-- I am really glad we did this (needed to for a big part of the kitchen due to large corner window and door.. but we could have put one to the right of the hood). It makes the room feel much larger since the eye can travel right through and across (esp. with our windows). Since you're using an induction cooktop-- can you put it on the right hand side? and just have all the tall/deep stuff on the left hand side.. or put the sink on the right hand side (I"m guessing running the plumbing will be much more involved than running the electric for the cooktop).

Hi and thanks! The kitchen looks like I imagined it (2door glass front cabinet above sink though). It helps to actually see it.Â*I don't like having the tall units on the right because they block the light but the problem is that with small kids I'd rather have the oven up high and putting it on the wall opposite the window would block the passageway.Â*Â*Any alternative solutions??Cyndi
