OK, I just typed out a HUGE review and the stinkin' computer froze and I lost it all!!

So I will attempt to recap:

New 24" undercounter oven cabinet, with ovens that go in it! Can't put a cooktop over it, though, because 1. there are no cooktops under appliances, and 2. it's only 24 inches wide
BD15, 18 and 24 with wire basket
New "base" cabinets (really, wall cabinets) that are 12" deep. They now line up with the base cabinets!
:XThe rollfronts can't be placed on a worktop.
New high cabinets, in shallow and deep configurations! 15 and 24" wide with drawers, and also with glass doors and a new utility pullout 24" wide, and glass doors on the 30" wide deep cabinet
New 30" wide microwave cabinet
New 18" high cabinets, perfect for appliance garage/hutch configuration.
New size in 24" wide x 18 high too, could be used as top cabinet for 48" wide fridge or range
Still no oven panel
Expanded UDDEN section
Expanded Dining Area section
Icons and placeholders for appliances, including washing machines, configurable for size
:?Islands are now called trolleys
:XStill can't install a built in microwave
IKEA appliances missing cooktops and no cooktop option in your own appliances area

Anyway, that's a quick overview of the changes I've found, feel free to add your own discoveries!

Hi, I'm new to this forum and IKEA Fans in general. The kitchen planner is still pretty buggy and slow. Froze up on me after using it for about ten minutes. You also must uninstall the previous 2006 version before installing the new 2007 version. I'm working off of a design created through the 2006 version, so not sure if that may be causing it to freeze up/be slow. I wish I could have been in charge of fixing all the details of it. It's still fun to use, though.

Cheers,
Sarah

Hi I downloaded the new planner - and opened my plan that I've been working on - changed out the appliances to mine and put the true measurements in for my fridge. I really like being able to do that ... as I don't have to remember that I need to worry about how tall the fridge is ...and account for that myself.

I cannot locate the sinks... but not a problem since I already have the double dom in mine ... it is slow.... I really like the changes they made to the organization.. much simpler to know exactly what you're picking and choosing from.

It didn't recognize some of the old applicances that were in my plan orginally - and when I went to the list - (to see the new pricing) - it crashed ... I was able to get it to show me the list when I went back in ... and then I added my own appliances as placeholders.

I'll play around with it some more later ...

Eva: Thanks for pointing out all the new things that you've found!!

Cool - I just figured out how to get the microwave installed over the stove in the planner - you just select the cabinet for fan - put it in place - and then use the pulldown options for fan, microwave ... and presto... there it is...

I checked and those options are not avail when you use one of the built in microwaves... which is kinda silly that they didn't do the same thing there.

Also just noticed - that we can add the decor in with the cabinets - one less thing to have to remember to add to the order.

Besides all that's been said, the most annoying "feature" so far is that the program seems to hang even more frequently than before, almost every couple of seconds now...

The extended choices are quite welcome, except that now when you click on an individualitem it does not give you the price next to the descripton, like it used to do before. That was very handy for quickly comparing the difference in cost between door styles for a single cabinet.

The Sorbo doors are also all messed up on some cabinets.

But not all is bad, I especially like the option of being able to select knobs and handles by name, as opposed to article numberlike it used to beon previous versions.

And finally, what is the deal with the grey walls and floor? How about letting us chose between different colors for a change? Even a limited number of choices would make all the difference here... :X

Can't wait for version 2007.2.

Oh. My. Goodness. The new program has crashed about 6 times in 20 minutes! I can barely get anything done before it happens. One thing I do like is that itauto saves. At least I think that's what it's doing? Everytime it crashes and I open it back up, my plan is immediately available andshows my recent changes that I hadn't purposefully saved. (does that make any sense?)

So it's not just me with the hang-ups?

Hi, I am new to this website and forum. Longtime Ikea fan, and just now looking into Ikea cabinetry for our kitchen.

Is there a tutorial somewhere for the planning tool? Like something that will explain why I can't put a cabinet in a certain spot? I just get the "forbidden" sign and a couple arrows pointing to small boxes? :?

Thanks for the tip on the otr microwave... been wondering about that too. And someone asked about sinks... I found them somewhere, can't remember now!

I have had the new planner for all of five minutes, and it is already making me cranky :X

I decided to try a hood over the stove instead of a microwave. The planner put the hood on the floor. I moved it...it moved it back. I tried to turn it....it refused. I finally got it to turn in the proper direction, in case that was why it wouldn't install. I turned...and imbedded it in the cabinet next to the stove. I pulled it out...it snapped it back in. I moved to 3d mode and tried it. It moved it into the sink. I pulled it out of the sink and tried again...it placed it on the wrong side of the wall, hovering OUTSIDE of the kitchen.

I gave up.
