Has anyone used a door to cover the side of the frame, instead of using the flat perfekt panel.

I am thinking of doing this at the end of the island, it is made of 24" + 12.25" deep cabinets (36" depth) and I wanted to see if I can cover it with 2x 18" doors. The style is Liljestad so it will be kind of like a false door.

But that's not uncommon with other kitchen manufacturers to have that detail.

I might have about a little gap but that could be covered with a filler or edgeband?

Yes, there will be a bit of gap, so the official best way is to use both. But I think you could probably carefully use edgebanding instead. People definitely do this.

I saw this on an island at the Frisco Ikea yesterday. They used a cover panel and mounted the false doors to it. That eliminated the gap. I intend to do this with my island.

OK, the extra doors are expensive especially on my choice which is solid wood (Liljestad) Still worth the price though I think.

if there is a gap you will want it to be filled with cover panel as the cabs themselves are a different colour and will show up in the gap.
