OK, I did manage to sneak a peek at your plan before the stupid planner crashed. I saved it to my hard drive, though, and opened it in the 2006 planner so I could work on it.

The reason the cooktop was on the floor is because you selected a drawer cabinet rather than a cooktop cabinet.

I don't think the oven placement will work. You will need to anchor the pullout to the back wall, and since the pullout is 24" deep and the oven cab is 30" wide, you'll have the pullout recessed by 6" making it impossible to access the contents. In addition to that, you don't have a convenient landing place for things that are coming out of the oven, which is not a good idea.

I did up a plan in the 06 planner to give you some ideas. Basically I used shallow pantries to wrap that bumped out wall, and put the ovens at the end of the long run of cabinets. Let me know what you think! The file is at http://myweb.cableone.net/evalondon/jg.fpf, you might be able to upload it to the 07 planner.

Here's some pix:

The suggestions are great. I've reconfigured the design to swap the fridge and the ovens and add the double pantry. I can't add so many of the pantry cabinets because that would mean I'd have to sacrifice my 2 seater bar which is a necessity.

The decision now is an aesthetic one - Kitchen4 has more wall cabinets and a corner wall cabinets which I'm not too crazy about and Kitchen5 just has 2 wall cabinets.

I'm going for a clean contemporary look and somehow the corner wall cabinet feels wrong to me but anyone with an opinion feel free to chime in. You'll find my login info above - I still can't figure out how to get the picture into the email.

2 Questions -

1. any ideas why I can't add an over the fridge cabinet? The program won't let me.

2. Can you add undercabinet lighting that is NOT visible? I saw some of the lights they show in the catalogue but couldn't tell if you add some type of trim to keep them from being seen.

Well if I knew putting the fridge in front of the door was an option, I would have come up with a different design! And I didn't know there was a bar in the room.

I don't like either of the corner options next to the ovens...have you considered using a tall rolltop (or two) in that corner, facing the same way as the oven cabinet, and losing the wall cab next to the micro cab?

edited to answer your other questions

The planner is buggy...it doesn't like to put certain cabinets where they belong. The overfridge and the rollfront are two that it won't place properly.

There is a "light rail" which you use as a trim piece under the front edge of the cabinet and it conceals any surface mounted lighting under the cabinets. The cover panels extend a couple of inches below the bottom edge of the cabinet so they can line up with the light rail if it is used. If you don't use cover panels, you will need to miter the light rail around the corners. If you are using cover panels but no light rail you will need to trim the cover panel for length.

I haven't tried the roll top cabinets at all in the design but am going to play around with the design now- uggh to say the program is buggy is probably an understatement - of course it won't let me put the roll top there so I may have to wait to see it when I try it out on the IKEA computer at the store.

Thanks for the suggestion! Good to know about the light rail too. I figured there was some way to do it. That's why I love this forum!
