Hi,

We recently moved to a new house and are trying to completely remodel our 80s kitchen. We love the IKEA kitchen cabinets (We finally decided on the Adel medium brown).

We seem to have an agreement on the design with a few questions remaining open:

1) We reduced our choices of the cooktop to two: Thermador or Wolf 36" induction cooktop.

Can we put these on the CTD36 base cabinet (on the island) easily? Or do we need to modify the cabinets (if so, how minor)? If not, what are your suggestions as a base cabinet?

2) At then end of the island, (far end from the cooktop), we will put 2-4 barstools. What shape should we make the countertop - circular, rectangular etc? Is there a better size and location for this?

I am attaching the latest plan (in IKEA planner format), along with our sketch for the island counter (in Excel) for your review.

The countertops are not drawn in IKEA planner, but we are thinking black granite and the floor will be wide plank Brazilian cherry.

Any suggestion is greatly appreciated!
