Description: I redesigned our kitchen, and wanted to take advantage of a holiday open house to try to generate some business.

So I assembled a 30in base and wall cabinet, and had a bamboo countertop fabricated for the stand-alone base cabinet.

I ran out of time for the light installation, and was shorted a set of legs and one drawer for the base cab't. So I improvised & had the base on a furniture mover, and plopped an IKEA LED light on the counter.

There will eventually be a fridge to the right of the cabinets, and a cover panel on the base cabinet end.

I was unsure of how the dark Nexus doors & drawers would look, but it's such a big space, and the bamboo next to it all set it off nicely.

	W definition W is a wall cabinet designation, as in W18, can be a stand-in for Wide, or when followed by a / stands for With.

That is a seriously cool counter top! Would you mind telling us where you had it made? I'd love to see some more shots of it... I love Bamboo as a building material, great grain patterns if used right, and a wonderfully sustainable material. NICE!

Thanks! The countertop came from a local supplier of Totally Bamboo. It's the vertical grain natural finish (as opposed to the slightly darker caramelized finish), and sealed with AFM Naturals Oil Wax Finish.

I hesitated about going with the vertical grain as opposed to the horizontal or flat grain, because I thought it might look too busy, but it's definitely growing on me.

i too love bamboo (laid natural horizontal in the last house, will be doing strand woven kona caramelized in this one) and i ABSOLUTELY love the vertical on that countertop. it looks fabulous

Totally agree... I love the vertical grain, the contrast looks wonderful, in the picture it looks almost like the look you get with certain species of mahogany. Great stuff!
