So, we got in a bunch of doors. After looking at them DH and I decided Abstrakt Red. With Adel White as the second choice.

For those that have the abstrakt, how are they to take care of? I have two little ones and I am a little concerned about fingerprints, food stains, etc. (Are we crazy?).

For now our counter will be concrete and floors VCT. Colors TBD. Appliances - Stainless.

If your are curiousour plan is on ikea:

abc123
kitchenwip.

Also, when looking at the plan - Would you add in glass uppper caps or glass pantry doors, to break up the red?

Bold choice!

I think I might make the uppers white, change them in the plan and see if you like that. Then you could paint the walls red and the white would really pop.

As for fingerprints and all that, yes, you'll get them, keep a damp microfiber rag handy and they'll wipe right off. Better yet, get the kiddos to do it, they're the perfect height! You could go with stainless (Numerar/Rubrik) for the top row of drawers, just to be different, but you wouldn't solve the fingerprint problem, probably make it worst in fact.

I LOVE the Abstrakt Red! If I weren't so chicken, I'd use it in my kitchen. I did think of using it on just a few drawers, and I may still do so.

I say go for it!

DH had a great idea. We are gonna get some red paint and paint our existing cabs to see if we can live with all that red. But it's a really exciting-because now we can move on to picking all the rest. We hope to get started by Mid-Sept.

I'll keep you posted.

My wife and I were really thinking of originally going with these red doors, but after seeing them in person we changed our mind. First off, it looks like they eventually get lots of swirl (scratch) marks in the finish from cleaning them, which you would have to do often especially with kids and fingerprints. They are so glossy that they show EVERY mark. Secondly, we felt that even though the color was cool now, that it will date your kitchen in the future. (IMO & YMMV)

We love the color and would just switch out the fronts if we got tired of it. But, Hmmm... I will let the kiddies at the doors this week and trycleaning them to see what happens.

I don't have any kids to get fingerprints on the Abstrakt doors, but I haven't noticed them being particularly dirty. If anything I think the high gloss finish is easier to clean because it never needs scrubbing. I had doors with a finish similar to the Arlig, and I felt like in the rare occasions when something dripped down the doors, I had to scrub quite a bit before getting it completely clean. I do have Abstrakt White though, and I think that it might show less than the black or red. The store displays seemed to be that way.
