I've had this picture saved on my hard drive for a while...not sure where it's from, possibly the IKEA UK site from a couple of years ago.

I think this is a wonderful use of IKEA cabinets in a somewhat awkward, small space. I love the idea of putting the little eating area at the end of the run against the wall.

Perhaps this will be inspirational to someone...

True, this appeared in our French Ikea kitchen catalog last year. Looks so cozy.

I notice the writing on the black horizontals. Has anyone tried this and does it come off cleanly?

I like this Anna. Since dh and I are ongoing about what doorstyle we'll eventually choose, I was playing around with the idea in the planner of white Rubrik base cabinets (no wall cabs.) and black rubrik on the island with a cooktop and island hood. Not sure if this will work in our space. Anna, I will start a new thread in the kitchen planning section and post the new idea in the IKEA Planner (2006). If you could take a look at it (and everyone else!!) I would appreciate it. I think I'm setting a record here for indecision!:shock: THANKS BUNCHES!!

Great kitchen! I'm going to try to round up all these photos when the new site goes live -- you all will have to remind me where they all are! Ack!

Laurie -- pretty sure that's a Numerar/Rubrik chalkboard door. I think it's like any other chalkboard...you prime it first by evenly coating it with chalk, then wiping it off, then you should be able to write on it, clean it and write on it again. It's also magnetic. Pretty cool, huh?

Susan, let me know when you're ready to start rounding up photos. I have a lot of high-res IKEA catalog photos from the US & Europe on my hard drive, as well as all of the US catalogs going back about 10 years.

That reminds me of a motorcycle trip I took around Spain a couple of years ago. It absolutely killed me that I didn't get to go to any of the !THREE! IKEAs around Madrid....

and that I didn't get to buy any shoes, but that's a whole nuther addiction...
