Hi
Elizabeth
! That was a great post! I can't see fpf files on my mac- can you post thumbnails You'll get a lot more feedback that way.
Re: Billy- Can you post your plans for how you'll bolt them to the wall? I think it's quite important to understand how those bookcases distribute weight and are constructed to ensure that your plan will work as you intend. With small children around you take a terrible risk essentially hacking a bookcase into a pantry- not to be patronizing as you've already said you intend to bolt them to the wall. It's just really important to all of us here that we are clear as we can be about potentially dangerous situations.
So, moving on to doors on the Billy and getting them to match the rest of the doors in the kitchen, unless there is something that's pretty exact, I'd say don't bother. Use something else as an accent.
42" is just fine- we've had some recent conversations here about even narrower being quite functional. One aisle in my ktichen is 46" and the other is 37." That only gets tight when people park themselves at the end of the penninsula while I'm trying to use my oven. But that's more about people and less about aisles.
I personally feel that I want the highest quality items to be those I touch the most- so the faucet to me should be the highest quality I can find. That doesn't mean that you should pay more than you can afford- I think sale shopping these days is outstanding, and you should dig around online and locally. Costco.com is a great source for sinks and faucets- I got mine there. Others may have even better sources for you!
BTW
, I don't think of Kohler as a bargain brand or sadly a great value. I think they are rather overpriced and not as high quality as their brand reputation makes them out to be. They are quite prevalent in big box locations, but these are typically lower-priced versions of their over-priced cousins.
It sounds like you've done an IKEA kitchen before? If I'm getting that right, we'd love to hear about your experience and why you're determined to do it again!
welcome!
Kelly
