Pull outs for base cabinets

Is there a reason you can't get any pull outs on the 36" wide base cabinets? I could do 2 18" cabinets but the cost is a lot more than 1 36" base cabinet.

Re: Pull outs for base cabinets

There is no 36" wide taller door, just the drawer fronts. You could do two separate pullouts (people have done this in sink cabinets) but you would need to mount the middle divider on the bottom of the cabinet for the rails to attach to, just like at the top for the two 18" drawers. Or you could do as kelly did and attach the two drawer fronts together, she's got another internal drawer inside above the pullout. Very Blum.

Re: Pull outs for base cabinets

you can use 153d hinges and then mod out 36" wide internal drawers. You'll have to create the internal drawer front (there is an article for this)

Re: Pull outs for base cabinets

I looked at the price sheet again and I guess I should have used the wording wire basket instead of pull out--I still want the drawers on top. Can I buy the 2 door, 2 drawer 36" base cabinet (BD236) and separately get two sets of the 18" wire baskets? Would that work? Would I have to install some sort of side pieces for the baskets to attach to?

Re: Pull outs for base cabinets

are you just wanting baskets at the bottom? and why baskets, but not drawers, if i can ask? Prevailing opinion is that the drawers are superior to the baskets

Re: Pull outs for base cabinets

I wanted the baskets because I want to store some tall stuff and may just put the baskets on the bottom and leave the top part of the cabinet open. With the drawers I would be more limited on the height.

Re: Pull outs for base cabinets

Check out Dulci's mod to make internal drawer fronts 36" wide and you'll have the best of both worlds: strength and stability of the drawers, placement as you wish (so long as the door hinges don't interfere).

Re: Pull outs for base cabinets

or you can put the drawer partition at the bottom of the cabinet (which you'd have to do for baskets anyway) and have pull outs (PollyQ did this under her sink)

drawers are much more stable than baskets and if you're storing tall items i would highly recommend you go with some drawer configuration (when i say drawer i don't mean using the Akurum drawer fronts, i mean the drawer boxes)

Re: Pull outs for base cabinets

Ok, so easiest would be to get the 36" base cabinet with doors and 2 drawers and then buy drawer boxes for the bottom without the drawer fronts.

Re: Pull outs for base cabinets

yes. just make sure you have the drawer partition as well. you'll need the template for where to drill the holes and attach the drawer hardware. that comes in the rationell drawer front package. if you don't have any of those in your order pm me your address and i can stick one in the mail to you, i have a bunch of them
