Post

Hello there:

I posted an introduction a few days ago but it seems to have disappeared.

We are first-time homowners on St Thomas. Lovely island, not so lovely prices for absolutely everything.

We have resolved to use IKEA for cabinets but a few questions that have arisen from using the IKEA planner (which, btw , freezes ALL the time):

1. How do you get the Perfekt wine cabinet to match the frames of the other cabinetry?

2. Has anyone used the apparently new birch effect frames? How do they look?

3. If I use wall cabinets for base cabinets (the 39" high corner one comes to mind) is it easy to fit it with legs and toekick? Can you buy the legs separately?

4. Can anyone think of a reason why the software would not let me put the roll top cabinet on top of a 24" base?

I think that is it for now. I really appreciate the expertise and assistance that has already been given me (hi Eva!) and hope I do not tax this community too much with my questions!

BTW< would it be helpful to put up a pic of our current kitchen for all to see?

Ok, Doh, I just found out that the legs are sold separately!

I think we got confused b/c the software and the kitchen catalog include the legs.

So, now that I know the legs are sold separately, just need to know if I can fit them into the wall cabinets.

Wow, clearly, I have a LONG way to go...I don't know a thing!

Hi potenza! Yes, we'd love to see pix, they are usually very helpful to everyone. Besides, we just like to see them

1. How do you get the Perfekt wine cabinet to match the frames of the other cabinetry?

You don't, in the planner. You just order it in the color you want.

2. Has anyone used the apparently new birch effect frames? How do they look?

The birch cabinets aren't new...they have been around quite a while. I have them and they look great, match my Nexus birch doors perfectly.

3. If I use wall cabinets for base cabinets (the 39" high corner one comes to mind) is it easy to fit it with legs and toekick? Can you buy the legs separately?

Yes, you can fit them with legs, you just have to drill some holes for the screws. Just let them know when you order them that you want legs for them. On mine for my island, we used the CAPITA legs instead.

4. Can anyone think of a reason why the software would not let me put the roll top cabinet on top of a 24" base?

Because the software stinks. It works for about 85% of what you want to do, the rest has to be imagination and wishful thinking.

My aplogies, petonza...I thought I'd sent you a private message re: your introduction, but I see that I must have forgotten to hit the all important Send button! I moved your intro post to the 1000+ Members thread in Fansite Updates and Announcements. That way, everyone will be sure to see it, and can read your story. My aplogies for my failing to communicate that to you!!!

Susan
