Range at the corner of an L

Due to space limitations, I have to stick the range at the corner of an L (see attachment). The reason is that we want to have a hood above the stove and there's no easy way to do this at a window.

Does Ikea have something that will fit into that corner (or does it even need a corner cab unit)? Is there any corner cabinet that have a rotating shelf that can be access through under the sink?

Re: Range at the corner of an L

It would really be inconvenient to locate your range there as access to the oven would be limited to one side. Have you considered placing the range on an angle in that corner ?

There are blind corner shelving units that would allow you to use the dead space. There are a few manufacturers. You can find a fairly reasonably priced one at Outwater Plastics Industires

Good Luck !

Yes, it is possible to have a blind corner access through the sink cabinet, though the usability will be limited.

Is there a reason why the sink and dishwasher couldn't be over by the window instead? The fridge location is pretty awkward IMHO .

Good point Sailormann, it would be inconvenient to place the range there. I'll need to rethink this.

Narf, the reason for the sink is the physical location of the pipes. There's no easy and inexpensive way to move that. Where would you move the fridge?

Fridge would've been over where you have the dishwasher.

When you say that the plumbing cannot be moved, is it because it's slab-on-grade and you can't reconfigure the drain pipes? The supply lines are not an issue at all.

Do you have a sketch with actual dimensions too? It's hard to generalize location when there's no reference to what could or couldn't fit.

Re: Range at the corner of an L

Narf,

The size of the room is a bit under 6.5 x 15 feet. I have enclosed a picture from the Ikea application of the current "To-Be" layout. I do not believe that the fridge will fit into the corner. It is just too wide.

Since the room is narrow, it makes it difficult to put the Fridge elsewhere. I can't stick it across from the other appliance from the kitchen. There would be no room to squeeze by.

It appears that there is no way to attach under the cabinet recycler either. There's just not enough room under the window. There are downdraft ranges, but they cost $2K and don't work very well.

The drain pipes are currently right under the sink. I figure moving it would be really costly? It does not appear to be on a concrete slab though.

This is what I think the best layout would be so far. It is within building code in my area to have a electric range under a window. What are your suggestions?

Paul
