First, thanks to everyone for putting out such great questions and answers - it's already helped me a lot.

Now, on to my problem - I have been playing with the Kitchen Planner software for about a year now and am finally getting close to where I feel confident enough to sit down with an Ikea salesperson and finally get this thing done. (Yes, I'm a bit obsessed about having everything exactly right before I begin.)

I know the corner wall cabinet is 24-7/8 inches wide, but does anyone know how much the wall mounting system adds to that measurement? Or is that already accounted for in the 24-7/8 inches? I'm planning on buying a few 3-inch or 6-inch filler cabinets from Home Depot or somewhere to fill the gaps in my design, but I'm not sureexactly howmuch space I'll haveonce the hanging rail and hardware are up there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi KnitDragon! Welcome!

The wall cabinets have an extended "lip" on the back that takes into account the depth of the extension rail. You need not worrry about it - it's part of the measurement given for the cabinets.

A year, huh? I've been in it for about a year and a half with no end in sight. But I don't fool around with the planner. It doesn't like me.

Once again, welcome and feel free to keep the questions coming!

Susan

Just to add to Susan's answer, the rail is cut about 1/4" shorter than the cabinet on each end, so with the cabinet hanging on the wall you don't see any railing.

Its quite clever and very easy to work with... and once its in wall studs its sturdy as heck.

Susan & Dave, thanks for the quick (and helpful) responses!

I think I'll find a good place to do a "work in progress" photo thing in one of the other forums. (Assuming I ever get moving, that is. )
