I was having so much trouble with the new planner, so I re-entered my whole plan this morning, trying new things in different places. I think I've come up with my best plan yet. I do have a few questions though. First I'll post a screen shot here:

Now a few questions if anyone would care to give their thoughts- I really appreciate any advice!

1) The fridges we have been looking to buy seem to all be about 36" wide, and the planner fridge is only 32". Will I have problems making it all fit from what you can see in the picture? I tried to add a bit of space between the fridge and the next base cab, but it's hard to tell how many inches that represents.

2) Do you think I need something above the sink, over the window? I was thinking of maybe a shallow shelf, and a hanging pendant light.

3) I took out the upper corner cab (it was above the base corner cab) I find that upper corner cabs are difficult to utilze well. Does it look odd to have the straight run of cabs there into the corner? I was thinking of perhaps doing some open shelving on the wall next to the range, knife rails, oil bottles, maybe a Gruntal rail thing...

4) Are there 24"wide pullout basket shelves for the wide pantry? I don't want deep shelves that I can't get to the back of!

5) What are the options for the interiorof the 30"wide pantry in case that will fit?

I did a calculation for cost, including cabinets, toekicks, cover panels and handles and it's sitting at about $7700. That seems high, but I guess I have a lot of cabnetry here.

Any and all comments and thoughts welcome please!

Looks like a great plan! A couple of quick thoughts...

1- the new planner has "make your own" appliances where you can input the actual dimensions. This has helped me more accurately place stuff in my plan -- no idea if it works yet on installation...we'll see -- fingers are crossed.

2- & 3- Personally, I like the run across the sink wall with the upper cabinets. The upper corner cabinet seemed really awkward to me, so I got rid of it too and have the same setup as you. My only worry is my ability to reach the far corner, but it's still probably better than the corner cabinet. Above the sink I don't think you need anything, a pendant would be ok, but I'd just assume have a can light or something high up shining down on me. The airy feeling of not being too closed in at your sink is very nice.

Last little thought/question -- do you have any other ideas for the microwave? It looks like it's a bit higher than your over fidge cabinet and I thought I heard someone say it's difficult to cover all the white or birch so it looks as built in as the rest of the kitchen. I haven't come to grips yet with what I will do with mine -- I'd like to stick it in a cabinet, but I haven't figured out how/where yet. We'll see.

ADD--- on the cost thing, I would just look at the final price at the bottom, forgetting that I had added all the appliances, countertops, etc -- take those out and my price droped significantly. Yours might be right in CDN$ and with all the cabinets, but worth checking to make sure you don't have and extra fridge @ $1000 in your price.

Thanks for your comments!

I'm not 100 % sure about the microwave cabinet either. I like the microwave up off the counter, but not sure I like the birch interior (or is it white??) of the cabinet showing. The reason it's a bit high on my pic is because the planner wouldn't let me bring it down to be even with the uppers. It should be right up against the fridge cabinet and level across the top with it.

As for the costing, I added up all the cabinets and other parts myself from the list-- left out the appliances, etc.

It's still a heck of a lot cheaper than a custom kitchen so I'm not complaining! I just wish we were ready to order because the kitchen event is only on till Nov 5th. I guess we'll probably catch the next one. (but now I'm worried about Adel Med Brown being discontinued!)

I have a couple of large appliances which I use often (breadmaker and 6-Qt slow cooker) Any ideas about how/where to store these?

I was thinking an appliance garage might help with the smaller things like the 1-cup coffee maker and the blender which we use often but would rather hide from view. Where in my plan do you think would be a good place for the garage? Anyone know how large they are? What they can hold?
